How destroy artillery in contact combat ?

I have problem to destroy artillery units (5HP, 1,5def) with tanks (light, medium) - I do focus target of attack , but tank stop before artillery (no contact, cant move), receive damage and then just stand, in activity is - fighing and attacked by XY (correct target), but artillery gives damage , tank doesnt. I mean that artillery (1unit) cant survive tank attack (6dmg) but artillery is without receiving damage.

Where is problem ? Or it is a bug ?

thx.

If the battle is taking place in a city, the tanks will be hampered, but should be able to kill the artillery unit.

The game does have a large element of chance, and does not do the full 6 strength damage listed, that number should be used more as a comparitive indicator. But you should check the battle again to see if this problem is persisting

Whenever a stack contains an Artillery (ART) unit, the ART will stop once it is in bombardment range of its target.

All the units stacked with the ART will also stop.

In order to have the ART bombard the target AND have the remaining units advance TO the target one must use the "Split" command button and separate the ART from the remainder of the stack.

Patton was suggesting you had an ART stacked with your tank. If that isn't the case and your tank simply wouldn't march to the enemy ART then you should report as a bug. Did you try to march the tank beyond the ART, like down the road from behind where the ART was?

Actually, I think I misunderstood when I was mentally "fixing" the OPs wording.

I see now that it does seem the OP was attacking an enemy ART with a tank. I took it that he was attacking an enemy ART with a tank and ART and the tank wouldn't advance though the ART (both his and the enemy one) were causing damage but the tank wasn't.

(and I'm usually pretty good at comprehending what others write)
