How long until a player goes inactive?

Has this changed recently?

I thought I saw it being 2 game days in the past.

It now appears to be longer.

Anyone have news about this?

Generally The time it takes for a player to become inactive is 2 to 3 days.

Player goes inactive after two day changes.

Something has changed.

We just had a player take 5 days to go inactive.

Player declared they were leaving the game on 3/12.

Coalition tab showed player last active on 3/12.

Game system did not change player status to inactive until day change 3/17-18.

This would be at least a 5 day window of inactivity.

Has anyone else seen this?

I suspect it has to do with High Command and build queues; and that the timer only starts when the last unit uis out of the queue and physically built (= last "player action").

The player in question used queues extensively.

That is an interesting idea.

I wonder if that is what happened. Can anyone on this thread peek behind the curtain and let us know?

If it works that way, it is worth knowing. I also make extensive use of build queues ( up to 5 day loads). That could push my inactive status out pretty far into the future. That impacts when the AI will take over for me.

Thanks for that clarification.

I was starting to wonder and my mates were suspecting my mental health. I might have even ticked off a few people with my questions.

There should never be a problem with an honest question, respectfully asked. We're all adults here. Well, mostly.

According to our Devs this is not the case, build queue does not prevent players from going inactive. Only real actions count. The state is only updated once a day though, so with perfect timing a player could be inactive nearly 3 days before marked as such.

@freezy

Can you clarify between HC build queues and HC multiple waypoint orders?

For example, a player grabs a nice, slow unit, like AA and has it walk back and forth with the "add a target" command. Potentially, this can be as much as 6 days of walking, from previous experience. Would this prevent an "inactive"?

Waypoint orders are also not a factors, they don't count as real orders. They are also not exclusive to HC. Would be pretty bad if players could force activity by just adding waypints orders for 200 days or something :D

@freezy & @WiseOdin:

So, to be perfectly clear, WiseOdin's post above was incorrect, and Freezy's post was correct: Production queue orders and waypoint commands do NOT prolong the time period for determining inactivity by a player, the AI takeover of an inactive player's country, or when a game administrator may remove inactive players and replace them. Correct?

Also, please clarify whether merely logging into a game constitutes player activity, or whether a player must take some actual affirmative action.

Some clarity also on whether or not a player can stay active simply by viewing the map, even without units on the map.

This matters in that a player who is staying active with no provinces is assumed to have naval units but if that is not true???

Based on my many observations of the in-game player lists on the diplomatic relations big board, I don't think a player can become inactive if he loses his last province while his status is active. If you lose your last province while active, you are listed as active for the duration of the game even though you have been completely wiped out.

You have to make an action in the game to be regarded as active, simply viewing the map does not.

it may be because they are moving troops to a far area, and AI does not take control until the player's orders are executed.
