Thank you

Throw in a scout unit like armored cars or mot infantry as well.

My opinion isn't popular but I would recommend you just use armoured cars instead of mechanized infantry. Pair them with tank destroyers, SP artillery, and SP anti-air then you'll have a force to be reckoned with.

No need for AA; you’re stack would have so few that an overwhelming force of planes would overwhelm them anyway.

Why would I not use 10 SP AA???

Because they are expensive

Exactly. Tacs can overwhelm you.

If you're not matching ranged units with AA on a 1:1 ratio, that's a major problem you have on your hands.

Sure, but SP AA? Not to mention that planes are fast. They can gather them all in one place and wipe out your stacks one by one. Better to get your own ints and fight planes that way imo.

So it's just not worth it to use 10 AA since planes can gang up on individual stacks? Why use AA of SP AA at all then?

Although I agree, interceptors are the best tool for air superiority.

Eh kinda, yes. AA is really weak in melee and against huge stacks of planes (planes are probably the best units in the game to use in deathstacks) they will get overwhelmed as you have to spread them across your entire army. A good counter would be to use strategic bombers to destroy airstrips and then obliterate those planes with tacs or/and ints. Or simply (and probably more effectively) go with ints that can reach them, as you said.

That is not to say that they are useless at all though. They are cheaper than planes and many will make multiple smaller plane stacks. In fact that would probably be more common, and in that case they could help if you don’t want an Air Force.

I agree, I don’t use mech inf.

When I play Comintern, I do like to use SP arty and SP rocket arty for the offensive heavy lifting, usually stacks of 5 each, add in 2 TDs, a bunch of SPAA and a few ACs and those stacks are very effective. Planes can only do so much and you’re mobile enough to go after air strips, and the SPAA will do enough damage to planes that they’ll often reconsider after a patrol cycle or two. I often like to also include a stack of 10 strats as well to target air strips that enemy planes are based out of. The downside to this strategy is that commies don’t get SPAA until day 6, so you have to be careful about taking on major air players until about day 9. And that feels like an eternity sometimes.
