Well, how is money for upkeep run? Is it deducted at every tick? Or once an hour or something. This may still explain it as my margin was just 600$
Sabotage/theft cannot be it, I still had money enough just after day change.

I have gold enough. Why are spies leaving?
I have had this happen twice now: at day change the spy report comes up and tells me that a spy left because I could not afford to pay him.
Last time I thought I had made a mistake, but this time I checked carefully. Spy panel said upkeep cost was 6k and I had 6,6k cash and no build orders. This was like 1 minute before day change.
Yet after day change there is still a spy leaving because of too little money.
Is something wrong here? Or am I overlooking something?

Are you sure , that your spy did leave, and not was caught by enemy?
