Maybe not a penalty of gold, but a penalty in the next game, economical or even military.
Inactive Players
I wish CoW would implement a penalty of gold or something after people join a map and go inactive before day 7. What says the community ??????????

no I think a gold penalty is better because most of these players come on set up and start something even the high command members and leave so after there is one or 2 active players they retire and they get gold because they were in such and such a place
and what will you do with an account with 0 gold?
no penalty?
I see your point but gold comes first then they have in game penalties because that's why they join the games is to get that 2 to 20 gold per game they join weather they do anything in it or not
You get gold when you join a game? I did not know that.
I am a non-gold player. I play the game for the game. I don't spend gold unless the resources are at zero and no other way to get more.
Becoming inactive could be for a multitude of reasons. If they join strictly to get the gold, don't give it out until X number of days into the game.
My issue with inactivity is when they are in a SM (share map) or a ROW (right of way) with others. Once the player goes inactive you can't move their men, trade with them or anything. I am currently in a 5v5 team game and 4 of my team went inactive. If I could control the inactive countries it would continue to be competitive. Right now I am just waiting for it to end.
Penalizing inactivity would hurt the ones that have a legitimate reason to go inactive (schedule changes, family issues..etc...).
My 2 cents.
I think they should remove alliance or right of way conditions after the 2 day expiration. If they return, they can re-activate the relationships. Just a bandaid instead of hacking off the dead limbs, but maybe better?
While it is annoying, and there should be a penalty, we've all done it. If a game is boring me, or I'm up against coiners...there should be an option to retire/surrender

I don't think so. Sometimes people have to go on a work leave or vacation, and can't help it.

A retire from game option woud be great . Why giving penaltys to innactives , u can give rewards to players who keep playng till the end --->> REAL GOLD REWARDS , not 500 gold , or some visual rewards , like decoration or stuff like that on ur profile. So far there is nothing to motivate a player to actualy finish a game
