Industry Specialization

I swear I read in an update notice that industries would now be specialized with the recent releases. I have not been on in a while so joined a game to check it out, however I am not finding it. Is this something that is only in Beta, discontinued, or am I just not finding a screen? Please advise.

You may want to check the thread titled Call of War 1.5: Mechanics & New Balancing, which has 27 pages of comments- a high number of them criticizing industry specialization, limited resources and manpower, similarity to Conflict of Nations, and trade restrictions outside a coalition. The developer is apparently pausing for a few days evaluating the 200 or so comments from various players, who played in the'Beta' version, before they make a decision on whether or not to follow that path ... 8)

OK, thanks. That explains why some of the other items I read about are missing from the game I joined tonight.

It is easier to think about it this way:

Regular games have not changed much.

The changes described in the news for “1.5” only apply to the specific event games that are marked 1.5 at this point. The next round of testing events for 1.5 will likely be in January.

I am not sure how long the development process for 1.5 will take. Personally I expect 4 to 6 months of testing via these events before these changes are incorporated into regular games, but there is no official timeline that I am aware of.

Thanks,

I will look forward to the next 1.5 event, I should have some time in January to kick the tires. Quick thought on industry specialization:

  • If we think of our current factories as manufacturers of parts.
  • Ports, Airbases and Barracks as assembly plants of those manufactured parts into ships, planes and Infantry units,
  • All that is needed is an assembly plant for AFV's.
  • Keep infrastructure as something that improves production and makes units move faster, but get rid of it as a requirement for producing AFV's. Lets face it a tank does not need a road to drive on.
That simple change would create industry specialization as we know it in our current game version, but tweek it slightly. You could also add rocket assembly plants if you are keeping rockets and did not want them built at airbases. I will take a look at the 1.5 notes when I have a little more time.
