Move/attack vs. Attack

Question, please.

For a non-ranged land unit, is there a difference between moving into an attack (initiating the attack because you moved onto an enemy) and specifically 'attacking' an enemy?... What is the use of the 'attack' button for a non-artillery land unit?

Thank you.

You also asked this in the Help Chat in game and i will give you the same answer here, it is for 'Attacking' simply moving into some land re-routes it so it goes a longer way(sometimes) when you press attack, it will go through whatever you put in its path, and if you want to betray an ally on the whim, just press "Attack" and select your allies unit.

Thank you.

Np.

The other difference is that Attack can cause a war when you reach a province taken by someone else after you gave the command.

Move will stop the movement when your reach a neutral province taken by someone else.

For this reason alone, it is never a good idea to issue Attack orders, especially to faraway provinces where the battle will happen when you're offline. Too easy to start wars by accident. Only noobs do this. You should always give move orders.

Thank you.
