mutually supporting AA from ship groups

How close do multiple groups of ships have to be in order to have mutually supporting Anti air? I guess this question also relates to ground forces with multiple groups and anti air?

If it's patrol, all under circle will obviously. If it's air bombing I think it's probably melee range (~5km) for both ground and sea, but maybe freezy will have better info.

- If the air unit is patrolling, you'd have to use one of your air units to get an idea of the diameter of an air patrol area.

- If the air unit is performing a targeted attack, the units have to be in the same stack.

A couple of us tried to experiment with very closely situated stacks, in which one stack had several AA, and we could not verify that the AA stack (the one *not* being targeted specifically) had any affect on air unit damage. Maybe if we had a stack of many more AA units, and a targeted stack with only one unit, we would have noticed something conclusively.
