Paratroopers have been suggested before, and Bytro has confirmed that they will implement them in the future.

not sure if this has been posted before , but , how about a couple of realistic units such as paratroopers that can be dropped behind enemy lines . or engineers that could be placed to repair damaged units ? just a thought .

Damaged troops already gain more health when not in combat and in friendly territory at day change, from what I understand.
