No Ordnance?

I've heard of players not using any ordnance units in their games. Is this a good strategy?

I used to, and I won many games. But you’ll need another form of ranged unit like planes. Over time I learned that it’s not as effective as just getting ranged units, since they are great against AA while planes can suffer even minor damage.

I only make two ordnance units: Artillery and AA. The rest are unnecessary.

yep, I agree

I never even get AA. Just artillery, maybe SP artillery. Other planes combat planes well enough.

fair

I’m curious - What do you do during the night, when your stacks are wide open to air attacks?

Usually I use units like infantry which have good air defense, they actually can stave off most planes. But when it comes to good players, it’s simple: I don’t sleep… not until I’m sure I damaged them enough or my units will be safe until I’m awake again. I try to destroy their Air Force before it can be a threat, or they simply were foolish enough to not have an Air Force. It’s not perfect but this works out most of the time.

Let’s face it - Almost all good players use some form of AA.

The question is, regular AA or SPAA?

Most of the time for me it’s just not an issue. I can take out their air forces which are almost always smaller. It’s simpilt a drain on time and resources, which I spend on making other units. This gives me higher level forces, and allows me to take out an enemy before they really begin to be troubling. No unit is sacred. You can win games without Ints, Arty, or even a navy! Trust me, I’ve somehow done it in my barbaric days.
