If the larger stack is within 5km of the smaller stack it should defend like for other planes. However, I'm not sure if there is some special behavior for nuclear bombers.
Nuclear Bomber radius with anti air
Nuclear bombers have a blast radius the same as an artillery range, but I have a question on how the defense is calculated against them. If there are two troop stacks, one has anti air, and the other doesn't, but they're both in range, does hitting the smaller target negate the defense of the other stack?
If I hit the large stack, my bomber will be shot down before it hits, but if I hit the smaller stack, can I wipe the larger stack without it attacking the bomber?

how about almost the edge of the 50km radius of the nuke? Here, let me attach a screenshot
context:
The stack that's clicked on in the screenshot will stop within artillery distance of the city, my nuke is in route and will hit the smallest stack right before it hits the city (give or take a couple minutes).
If I hit the smaller stack, the artillery will still be in range of the nuke, but will the larger stacks armored cars anti air stats hit my nuke before it is able to attack?
(addon: that is a separation distance of roughly 45 to 50km)
Stacks that are more than 5km from the target shouldn't defend against a plane.

one more question. When you fly planes over an enemy, but you aren't attacking them, just flying over, do they take damage from anti air? Like can someone set up a blockade of anti air that attacks all aircraft that flies over them, or does the aircraft actually have to be attacking nearby?
Okay to answer both my questions for anyone else that sees this thread and needs an answer:
Nuking a small stack with no air defense within the 50km range of a large stack with anti air works. Nuking the small stack kills the large stack as well, and bypasses their anti air defense.
Moving a plane over a stack of anti air does not cause the aircraft to take damage, so AA and SPAA are not viable options for defending against attacking aircraft unless they are in the stack you are trying to defend. Patrolling interceptors or rocket fighters Also only attacks planes that are attacking something within the patrol circle.

This doesn't work for AA; they only "fire back" when your planes attack something, either by direct attack (at 5km range) or ending the patrol cycle (anywhwere in YOUR patrol circle).RayFireYT wrote:

BUT: when an enemy is patrolling interceptors, and they "tick" (end their 15m cycle) while your planes are in THEIR patrol circle, they DO attack your planes.
thank you for the explanation! I'll keep that in mind. I'm currently in a FFA map fighting 2 thirds of Africa and all of South America at the same time, and I'm using nukes to get rid of South America's troops because if I tried to fight em close combat I'd lose a ton of troops which I need for fighting africa
