Unranked or not, in my opinion you get at the end of the game gold for taken provinces (exactly a percentage of the points of the provinces)

Winning a map will award you in gold based on how many Victory Points you end with. For the 4p map you get 5.18 gold per VP, 10p and 22p maps you get 3.83 gold per VP, for the 100p map you get 0.35 gold per vp
