Retiring from a game

I've seen similar threads about this topic, but I want a confirmation.

According to the wiki, "If for some reason most other active players dropped out and only 3 active players remain, they can mutually agree to retire the game round. If such a situation arises an article and a retire button automatically appear in the Newspaper."

Okay, cool. But I'm the only active player remaining in a Europe - Clash of Nations (22 players) map, and the retire button does not appear in the newspaper. I've checked different newspaper pages, including typing 'Retire' in the search bar. It's just not there.

Is the retirement option only visible when there are precisely THREE active players left? If so, that's ridiculous. It should be changed to "three or less active players remaining".

It is three or less. If you're the only remaining active player it should be available.

Are you on mobile or PC?

They might have removed this feature - I haven’t seen it for a while.

@freezy Do you know what happened? Thanks.

I’m not 100% sure myself. I’ve sped up so many games by assassinating the played and ending it or everyone goes inactive except me and maybe friends and I call it a day. I don’t see why they would remove it… but I am in a Blitz with 3 players myself (2 on coalition, one out) and it’s not able to retire. Hopefully if the straggler joins I can end it… but your case does not look good. A few weeks ago the retire option was there (I didn’t take it though, big mistake since I missed out on leaving my inactive coalition and going solo after a long game). Hopefully they kept it.

I've seen it on another map as recently as a week ago, but maybe it's been removed for CON or something.

If OP is on mobile, there's an issue of scrolling limits in the newspaper where you can't scroll all the way to the bottom, so they may not be able to see it even if it's there.

Update for you guys: When I made my first post, it was Day 9 (and I was indeed the only active player left) and the retirement option was not there. It's Day 10 now, still the last active player, and now the retire button appeared. Seems like jubjub bird is correct: It's three or less.

I have successfully retired, thus ending my first Romanian game in the "Europe - Clash of Nations" map. 210 VP.
