If there are enemy troops in an AI country I have RoW with will bombarding the enemy with battleships also attack the AI country?

I think you will likely end up at war in that case.

If you bombard while enemy is in melee with AI it will (at least with artillery). If enemy is on AI province point it might or might not. Someone claimed it would, but I'm not 100% sure. If neither of the first two apply it might not. If you try it can you let us know the circumstances and the result?

So was the target in the third category above? Not in melee with AI and not on center point of prov?

Targeting attacks on allied soil triggers war.
To get around this, simply move your BB within range, and it will automatically attack. The auto attack function does not trigger war
