You would need even more... even two land units can take different routes... for example, tank units will do their best even MORE than infantry to avoid mountains...
Route shown to Rally point different than one taken.
When setting up the Rally point for units in production, the route shown often differs from that that the unit actually takes when produced. This can be confusing for new players. Obviously different types of units can be produced from the one province depending on how it is setup, and depending on the type of unit produced, will determine what route it can take. Planes obviously will prefer to fly from airfield to airfield if available. Ships can only travel by water even if the rally point is on land. Probably too awkward to do, but would it be an improvement to CoW, if when setting up the production rally point for a province, that three routes be shown, with adjustable way points - one for land units (possibly a green route), a second route for sea units (possibly a dark blue route), and the third for air units (possibly a light blue route)? Obviously if there is no sea route, none is shown. If they are all the same, only show the one.

so .......does that mean there is no real answer to a way to have the "pre-production" route shown to being the same as the actual route "post production".
I dare say the biggest problem, even for a super computer, is you can setup a province rally point, even without a unit in production, so how in hell can the computer show the best route for a unit type that it doesn't know it is going to produce. You mentioned tanks taking a different route than infantry - another one would be naval bombers taking a different route than strategic bombers, especially on long routes.
Thank you for your reply.
Exactly; this would be an issue with grave consequences and, to be frank, it isn't worth the effort for a small visual problem (after all, the actual unit being produced DOES figure out the best path for itself).
