Sabotage

Ok so I've noticed that when I've been running 9-12 military sabotage spies on an opponent that I will get a view of all of their army. Is that just a fluke or is that a good way to see what their army looks like? So far I've tested it in 3-4 games and it's worked every time.

Yes, it works with at least 5 military sabotage spies -- they can spy on the opponent's "general deployment plan". :00000156:

However Intel spies can discover units only in the province where they are deployed and in directly neighboring provinces (including third countries) and adjacent sea areas.

Thank you! I will continue to use that tactic then

I am using only 1 spy, and i get information in 3 days. No need for 3 or more IMO

I remember that there are threads about spies. Check them out!

I did look at some of the other threads about spies. They were very helpful especially for intelligence spies.

So do those military sabotage spies continually track the units or is it just a one time reveal a day type thing. Because I waited 2 hours after the change of the day to move my units, yet he can track them where ever they go... This get very confusing

The spies reveal them once at day change, they do not get changed live. You can still see the units as they were, but it won't update to show how the units have moved.

10 millitary spies will get you a full reveal every time!

if they can track your every move, perhaps you gave them shared map by mistake, or even worse they have a human spy who you share maps with,.... this can happen and it does..

There are no guarantees.

While it may be statistically unlikely for 10 spies to give no report, it is not impossible.

Each spy has a 50 percent chance of doing something or nothing each day

Of the ones that end up doing something there are several choices for the missions they could complete.

In addition there are the effects of counter intelligence spies to consider. Each counter spy also has a fifty percent chance of doing something or nothing. For those that do something their choices are: capture and enemy spy before he completes his mission, capturing an enemy spy after he completes his mission, or preventing an enemy spy from completing his mission.

The most efficient stack of spies is 5. Anything more than that is overkill. No matter how many spies you use their success rate is always 50%

I find when I use 5 I don't always get full reveal right away, and also that it comes and goes day by day, when I use 10 I always get full reveal at day change and it doesn't go away!

That's luck or x-factor but not due to a 10 stack. I would be more efficient to put two stacks of 5 spies in two provinces instead of 10 in the same province. Changing the province where you spy daily is also recommended.

I guess I'm the cheap skate...I put 2 spies in 2 different empty provinces and 'hit' a reveal about 80% of the time.

If I am about to invade someone you can be darn sure there are going to be more than 2 put in that country just before day change...oh, and one small way to counter military spies is to set your troops to go in a different direction about 5 min before day change and then 5 min after day change, change them back to the path you really want.

that works the first day your being spied on but if the person gets a full reveal on you 2 days in a row they "should" know what your doing!! (I do it too!)

Easy for you to say but i'm in Europe so day change is at 2am, I'm not gonna get up for that. It is a huge disadvantage, it takes longer to take rebelling provinces back, being a couple of hours behind on knowledge, get outdated spy information the list goes on.

I agree it is an extreme advantage...there is an easy fix to that...make each day 23 hours! Then you would get a complete rotation every 24 days. Start the clock as the beginning of the first day of each game when the first person joins the new game...now there is no advantage!
