Tips for new players

Are there any tips for new players in this game? I just started playing a couple days ago and I like the game a lot, but I want to get better at it. I am from Croatia

hello there:)

Well for starters:

1-Don't attack with individual units, only with stacks unless it's an undefended province. Otherwise you will take massive casualties.

2-use combined arms. Never rely on only one or two unit types or any half decent player will eat you raw. Look at the wiki to know different unit types and how they fare against each other.

3-economy+diplomacy=victory just as much as military power is victory. Make good allies to secure your rear and build up your economy so you can actually pump out units properly in mid and late game.

That doesn't mean you should ignore your military early, just NEVER ignore the diplomacy and economy aspects.

4-dont play this game. It's already too late for us to escape it's addiction, but you can still make, it hasn't infested your mind yet!! Run while you can!! Ruuuun!!

For real though this game IS addictive and WILL hurt your school/work. Be careful.

This ^^

Just donโ€™t spam useless units like anti tanks.

Anti tank isnโ€™t useless, itโ€™s actually great for defending against tanks. Coupled with militias and you have the ultimate stealth defence units

Though if they have scout unitsโ€ฆ

Looking for improvement.

One time I was taking an AI and I thought a forest prov was clear but when I reached it, out popped 6 at

Thatโ€™s why you always need motorised infantry or armoured car when moving your troops.

Looking for improvement.

Lesson was learned

Other than the stealth bonus, anti tanks aren't useful considering most experienced players don't use heavy armor. And if they do, you always have arty. Which in my opinion is more useful since your unit won't take damage.

is it the 10 tips for new players thread

My best advice is to think of this as a math game, if that's your thing. Every decision is a math problem - whether to invest here vs there, what units to produce, whether to battle the enemy's stack with your stack or wait for reinforcements, etc. The game is expressed through numbers so you might as well use them to gain an advantage.

The other tips above are good to get started, but advancing further than that will require a little of your own work.

Heโ€™s completely right. Itโ€™s easy to get caught up in the astetoc and history, making you think that โ€œwell, medium tanks were the best in ww2, and armored cars were not used as often, so I should use them instead!โ€ Or

โ€œWell, most naval battles depended on carriers right, so I should get mostly them!โ€

Itโ€™s just a bunch of numbers and you just find out what works best. Of course how you use those units is far more important, but as much as I REALLY hate to admit it, Cold hard game math beats out real history for the most partโ€ฆ

I agree with most of the stuff there.

But carriers are good tho-

Unless youโ€™re on a huge map, no. Even if youโ€™re simply in something like the old world, they are not needed. You can simply take over the land and ignore the sea. Navy in general is not always needed, you can just get naval bombers and ignore it often.

Ok yea fair I was mostly insinuating big maps but should take into consideration most players still play CoN or Homefront. Agree with NBs too :D
