Understanding nuclear attacks

(1.5)

In a current game, I launched a lvl 1 muclear bomber attack against a stack of 42 aircrafts in trucks.

I was a bit surprised to see, that the nuke only took out half the planes.

The nominal damage of the bomber to units is 1300 to soft target and 900 to vehicles. I actually don't know if trucks are considered soft targets or vehicles (anyone please clarify?). But assuming they are vehicles, should the nuke not have killed them all?

I mean, how much HP does a truck really have? If half the units survive, they must have over 20 HP each, which seems like quite much. That's more than some regular land units.

So, I suppose some other mechanism is in play here. And even that maybe something was changed in 1.5.? I remember nukes as a real blockbuster in 1.0.

Does it have to do with something like part of the nukes' damage goes to splash damage and does not go to the center?

If the trucks were moving then it is possible that some of the units escaped the bombardment range of the bomber.

They did not. They were parked in the center.

x factor, it goes from 0 to 100%

"Then, when you run out of ammunition and the enemy continues to advance - to the bayonet, when they break your knife - to your hands, when they break both of your hands - to your teeth, when you get the last tooth knocked out, as long as you move, as long you are there - attack! When they mortally wound you, see to it that you fall in their way, so they have to go around you, jump over you or move you - bother them even in death!" speech of lieutenant Tasic before battle of Cer 1914.

Also any building or other units within the blast radius will soak up a lot of the damage potential of the nuke.

There were no buildings.

Can you explain the maths in this? Is the damage output divided between center damage and splash-damage to a fixed ratio?

This. You may have gotten REALLY unlucky there.

But anyway: what is the HP of a truck? And is it a soft target or a vehicle target?

The damage is spread among all units within the blast radius, depending on their stack size and army composition. If no other units were present in the blast radius, then the airplane trucks should have received 100% of the damage.

Also the bomber must have been at 100% health to deal 100% of its damage.

But without seeing the exact situation it is hard to investigate this further.

Thanks.

How much HP does a truck have? And what kind of target is it?(it's not visible. The carrier shows the icon of the unit it is carrying)

I think in 1.0 it has 5 HP and in 1.5 it has 10 HP
