Now that everyone has access to the new update, what are everyone’s thoughts about it?

if we talk about 3 resource type , it seems good , you can focus to produce units instead of trying to have 5 different resource type , they decreased manpower of units and they increased production bonus of industries at higher levels so it will bring more fight on map

spending oil and iron for 11 industries for 5 different resource type was not good ( urban + rural ) now you will get back your oil and iron faster than old system to produce more units

if you lose your core cities it wont effect your economy too much

especially comintern now has bigger advantage it will use his advantage at 3 resource type not divided to 5 different one , with less resource type units seem more expensive but I think it will be good for every doctrine with faster investment return rate

you can have 4-1-1 rural production provinces now , if you have special tactics which needs to focus some units , you can do it more easier now

supply drops are more useful now

You will need to research the maps resources placements ( I dunno if they are random placed though since I only played 1 100 map ) contry resources and playstyle are closely tied. Forexample you would want to have a contry with oil and food if you playstyle is airbased ( since all airplanes require food, and oil )

The game mechanics are the same.

My first impression without knowing where the resources where, is that it can look like units/buildings are more expensive, but I guess maybe if I streamline my playstyle it will be the same as before.

Finally, one update-relate thread not spammed with hate! (I've considered quitting the Forums because of the negative atmosphere)

Anyways, one time I saw a CoN map with two resouceless cities PER COUNTRY

I don't play CoN

Maybe that has to do with Dorado making the decision.

I meant Europe Clash of Nations (it's a widely-used acronym in the CoW community)

Oh my bad. We were discussing conflict of nations in a different thread so I thought that's what you meant.

the resources are identical in all countries now (yes, incredibly lame) but you can build your preferred army in any country you wish now, making build orders perfectly repeatable.

resource shortages no longer come from, well, any actual lack of resources. Instead they are now created by changing your cost profile. So, if you have a country that has 2 oil cities and 0 rural oil provinces - you now have only the option of spending oil to increase your oil production. (where a single oil city and 4 oil rurals allows you to invest Food+Metal to increase your oil production via rural industry)

So, if you have 2 oil cities, and also want to build an oil heavy army, you will create additional strain on your oil resources (even though it is actually producing the same volume as food + metal.)

this is only true until your industry and Rc's are built, then you are free to build anything without any shortages, because your country produces equal volume of all 3 resources.
