Updating MS causes loss of games

I spent 45 minutes updating MS and then activating their updates. My computer shut down and restarted automatically several times as the update screen indicated. After all was said and done I tried to login and found that I was going to have to start all over with a new game in the tutorial mode. I went searching for my previous game name (General Lionheart), found it but I am unable to access my games under that name. Is there anything you can do to help me recover my previous status, and games???
