What does the "Stock size" on manpower mean

When I view how much manpower I have, one of the numbers visible is the "Stock Size" which is apparently 1.6 million or something, what does that mean, please?

The total recruitable population, aka the manpower cap. If it says 1.6 million, you cannot have more than that.

THIS

And you don’t need to worry about it until the very late game, or if you don’t build much units.

Thanks, I just wondered.

Can it be extended?

The largest armies I’ve seen are like 300k manpower through the whole game. I don’t think it could ever be an issue. Even if you pick the largest map and try to spam as many units as possible and extent the game to an insane length.

It increases as you conquer territory.

Lol, I just checked this number in a late game where I own four continents... my stock size is 78 million there.

How did you take 4 continents without ending the game? Is this a custom map?

Yeah, the one about taking 13/25 control points, and in the end you have to wait for two days.
