What happens to a counter ops spy when its province gets captured?

I know that when you have an intel, ecosab, or milsab spy in a province that you conquer, that spy gets turned into a counter ops spy. But what happens if you have a counter ops spy in a province you own, and an enemy captures that province? What will happen to the spy?
