Yep, making a new map is complicated. They need to choose all the countries, create an outline for the map, develop the map, beta test it, fix glitches and release it. I'm still not aware if one was confirmed.WarPtyLtd wrote:

It has been stated it will release soon. But have to remember it takes time. As I wont be around much longer I sadly wont be able to play on the 260 map. But what sucks is that I guarantee that over 200 players will be AFK by day 4

I can neither confirm nor deny any details about an alleged new map possibly in development that may or may not be released at some point in the future.

*If* there is such a map in development, then it would be released when it's done and technical challenges have been resolved (which are probably present for maps that large, keep in mind there would be hundreds of them running at the same time) 
If a release is planned there will be an announcement.

Big maps are a big challenge. They were still fixing various bugs, errors and typos on the 50-player Pacific map almost a year after it was released for general use.
Now multiply the details of that map by 5.1.
