One stack, absolutely.
Agreed.
What most players don't think about is that in every battle, the defender will do the most damage possible to the attacker. It doesn't matter if the attacker has 1 plane or 10, if the defender can inflict 50 HP of damage, the attacker will have to sustain 50 HP of damage.
Simplified example:
Attacker has 10 bombers doing 100 HP damage to land targets (total).
Defender has 10 land units doing 40 HP return damage to planes (total).
Battle produces a 5:2 damage ratio in the attacker's favor.
After the battle, the air stack drops from 400 HP to 360 HP, and each plane is at 90% health.
Now let's consider 1 plane attacking the same target:
Attacker has 1 bomber doing 10 HP damage to land targets (total).
Defender has 10 land units doing 40 HP return damage to planes (total).
Battle produces a 1:4 damage ratio in the defender's favor.
After the battle, the air stack drops from 40 HP to 0 HP, and the plane is DEAD.
3 is not as bad as 1, but you get the picture.
Attacking with anything less than the full 10 units is DUMB.
The game is designed to punish these kinds of half-ass attacks.
If you are going to attack someone, use your whole ass. Both butt cheeks.
Or don't bother. Wait, build more planes, and attack when you have 10 or more.
