Why did multiple stacks die on a nuke hit?

I saw my enemy had a Nuclear Bomber set to attack my stack of 12 arty. So I separated 10 of the arty and had them leave the city, while the 2 arty (the stack that the nuke would attack) stayed put, to minimize losses. But once the nuke hit, I saw that both stacks had been destroyed. In the newspaper, it said that the enemy nuke killed both of the stacks. How is this possible? Is it a bug?

You seem to have accidentally made this thread twice, so I will copy paste. Strange A N I M E moves.

  • Nukes, being nukes do ranged damage. Anything within a range of 50 (the same as an artillery or cruiser unit) will also take damage.

So, theoretically, if I nuke a cruiser, anything that the cruiser would be able to bombard would be hit by the nuke?

Exactly! It takes the exact same damage as well (always remember to factor in the fact that air defense will reduce the damage a nuke deals by reducing its health)

Here is a handy tool for this stuff:

Thank you ;)

Nuclear bombers and rockets deal splash damage (damage within a certain distance of the target) when they impact. This can also cause the nuke to be shot down by a stack in its damage range, even if the targeted stack does not have enough AA defense.
