Why don't Garrisoned units heal better?

The healing portion of this game is deplorable!!! I don't understand why a unit heals (a meager) 15% regardless of where they have been of for how long they've been doing it. If I just step back into my own territory... yay! I get a whopping (sarcasm) 15% back.

This makes no sense and reduces the basic fundamental rule of repair, resupply and replenishment. The over simplification of this seems only to perpetuate the disposable nature of units. Serious flaw in the way the game works.

The 15% healing isn't actually not healing because if you have 10 regiments at 50% health that means you actually have 10 understrength regiments. Each regiment has had heavy losses and has only 50% of it's effective number. The healing that now occures is actually new recruits arriving in the regiment, armoured cars getting maintenance, new tanks joining the ranks and soldiers with minor wounds returning from the infirmery for effective duty. The 15% healing combines all of these real wartime efforts.

So then there is no rationality to it. Just a blanket rule that really doesn't reflect any other factors like moving heavily damaged units off the front to a base of operations where say for infantry units... there is a level 5 Barracks... which supposedly can build a new unit in three to four hours... but can't replenish the injured or missing troops from one. Seems like a bit of a flaw.

Nothing stops you from replenish your damaged stack with new produced units, you'll still get the 15% healing on top. The 15% healing is a algorythmical solution for the logistical proces that i described above.

Its really not as much an algorythmical solution as it is a simplified generalization. A real representation with a algorythmical solution would factor in your total barracks capacity ... available manpower (and all the criteria for each unit) and base the healing rate for all your armies based on the relationship between capacity and the number of damaged units you currently have fielded. At least then it would make some sense.

You would be surprised with the amount of damaged units in World War II that fought way under their deployed strengths for months. There would be supply lines cut so no way to get damage machines repaired or wounded back to the rear etc. They would pray to even get a couple of recruits. It was pretty common for all combating nations.

It's part of the game that sense to the realism vs. gaming mechanics that Bytro was going for. Your army faced a tough battle with heavy losses? It will take several days (or weeks/months in real life) to get them back to fighting shape.

I bet if WW2 vets read this forum they WISHED they had gained 15% unit strength back for the entirety of the war let alone a couple days or weeks.
