My guess is the total number of points on a CoW map is exactly 800 VPs. Or perhaps, by design, 799.
VPs, as you know, are not affected by morale so, as in S14, the 400-point win condition here is 50% of all VPs. 50% seems an echo from S14 where 1,000 IoP points out of 2,000 is required to win those games where the game creator decided to accept the lowest win standard (rather than a 1,500 or 2,000 points gold option).
CoW and S14 share the same game serial number increment system (over one million now), as does 30 Kingdoms. So I'm assuming they all have identical software and likely even run on the same hardware in Bytro's offices. They all can run on a rather small database (which in fact is required to make and maintain digital maps) and may even run on the same database.
Akulla, I'm surprised to hear you got an odd and low number of gold for a win in CoW. But you must be sure it was a win rather than a 2nd or 3rd place. You're not old enough to have dementia like some of us oldest players.
