1991 Role Play: Brainstorming and Planning

NOTE: THIS THREAD IS A CONTINUATION OF: 1991 Role Play (Original Thread)

**NOTE: THIS IS JUST AN IDEA FOR NOW UNTIL ANY CURRENT FORUM RP GAMES END AND IF WE GET ENOUGH PARTICIPANTS**

Here we can discuss ideas about planning the roleplay, including what bloc nations should be in, landgrabbing issues, bloc balancing, etc. I'm going to put down people's names here who want certain nations, although nobody's locked in just yet - everyone has an opportunity to sign up for the nation they want. Major powers, such as Russia, USA, UK, etc. will only be given to trusted community members who have previous RP experience.

The captain of the neutral team would be chosen later.

Countries with an asterisk (*) will only be available for players with previous RP experience, as we will need quailty performances from these nations for the RP to play out adequately.

Also, so this thread doesn't turn into a 20-page off-topic s**tshow, please ONLY DISCUSS THINGS RELATED TO THE PLANNED 1991 RP HERE. Thank you.

Someone brought it up earlier, I think it was @Komrade Khrushchev. I’m planning to have a displaced country like Caucasus abandon their cores and move all their units into the Croatian provinces, and RP as them. Since they and Yugoslavia will both have significant resource shortages (Yugoslavia will have 2 core cities and Croatia will have 3 non-core cities), it will force these two to fight.

We’ll also probably have the Croatia player RP as Albania as well. Depending on what happens, they can choose to annex Albania, or continue to RP separately.

If someone wants to RP Cuba, we can have SouthUS take the Cuba AI, but this isn’t necessary.

Oh lord that would not end well, for once thing Croatia would be crushed to bits and not ever have enough resources. Even if they took all of Yugoslavia they would not have more than 1/4 a normal player! Non-core production is heavily overestimated.

Any other suggestions? Or (and I favor this ofc) should we pretend the breakup of Yugoslavia never happened?

Another idea is to have Russia or another Eastern Bloc nation take the Serb lands, RP as them, and annex them later on. The rest of Yugoslavia would be a Croat-Bosniak Federation and it would still have 4 cities.

You could have the internal issues be RP’ed and while Croatia is officially separate, the player still owns them and will have to RP the breakup. Outside powers can support the collapse or saving of Yugoslavia and such. If it falls, then you’d Eastern bloc could be implemented (along with maybe other areas being partitioned)

To be honest that would euthanize Yugoslavia and keep them handicapped for the full game. I’d rather pretend it never happened than basically have them die off since they could never survive with their country split in half like that…

I think it would make more sense logistically to just have Yugoslavia. Perhaps Southern USA roleplays as Cuba and is sent resources from the Eastern Block? That would be interesting

We have the eastern block give humanitarian aid. We could also limit American troop deployments.

I’m not sure we should even exercise that much control… we want people to RP freely! Last RP games have shown me that trying to control things just doesn’t end well, we gotta make it so players can do their own thing as much as possible.
