1991 Role Play: Brainstorming and Planning

NOTE: THIS THREAD IS A CONTINUATION OF: 1991 Role Play (Original Thread)

**NOTE: THIS IS JUST AN IDEA FOR NOW UNTIL ANY CURRENT FORUM RP GAMES END AND IF WE GET ENOUGH PARTICIPANTS**

Here we can discuss ideas about planning the roleplay, including what bloc nations should be in, landgrabbing issues, bloc balancing, etc. I'm going to put down people's names here who want certain nations, although nobody's locked in just yet - everyone has an opportunity to sign up for the nation they want. Major powers, such as Russia, USA, UK, etc. will only be given to trusted community members who have previous RP experience.

Western Bloc (NATO):

Eastern Bloc (Warsaw Pact/Cominform/Comintern):

Neutral Bloc (Non-Aligned Movement):

  • Spain - @russ_russ1
  • Finland -
  • Turkey -
  • n/d
  • Morocco -
  • Poland - @That polish guy
  • Egypt* - @Carking the 6th
  • Switzerland (AI)
  • Iraq (AI)
  • Austria (AI)
  • Tunisia (AI)
  • Portugal (AI)
  • Greece (AI)
  • Czechoslovakia (AI) (Remember Czechoslovakia didn't break up until 1993)
The captain of the neutral team would be chosen later.

Countries with an asterisk (*) will only be available for players with previous RP experience, as we will need quailty performances from these nations for the RP to play out adequately.

Also, so this thread doesn't turn into a 20-page off-topic s**tshow, please ONLY DISCUSS THINGS RELATED TO THE PLANNED 1991 RP HERE. Thank you.

Not really, there's a British Workers Party for that. They're sort of mildly socialist, although they're more conservative than they used to be, which has made them the target of a lot of criticism.

They absolutely do. You make it sound like a cussword though... If you are an American, maybe you are not aware of the big difference between a Communist party and a Social Democrat party in Europe? Social Democrats have been cooperating with Liberal-Conservative-Christian power groups for decades all across Europe, and are deeply rooted in making Europe what it is today, and they are themselves a major power factor in it. Emphasis has shifted from the traditional workers base to the "green environment" thing though, as well as global equality issues.

So no, there is absolutely no shame in voting for people who were at least partly responsible for bringing Europe to where it is today: one of the "good" places to live on this planet.

When the enemy is driven back, we have failed. When he is cut off, encircled and dispersed, we have succeeded.
- Alexander Suvorov.

Socialism β‰  Communism and people need to really understand how different those two things are.

Guys... don't make him go into "ethnic cleansing" mode...

I don't think the Tories are that great.

This isn't what Maggie died for.

Kind of. It's complicated. Policy-wise, Labour is now pretty similar to the Conservatives, which I think was a strategy to catch all the conservatives voters who have been alienated by the state of the party in recent months. So they're more like a slightly more leftist version of the Conservatives nowadays, without all the shambolic behaviour of the conservatives. I'm not a particularly big fan of that, but frankly, I'd much rather have Labour than the conservatives.

I'd have Farage than both.

Who's Maggie?

After I moved to the United States I kind of stopped paying attention to european politics. Very insightful.
