Militia is more of an either-you-like-it-or-hate-it subject. Some people claim that if they could only use one unit for the entire match, they would pick militia, and some people just hate it and never use it. It depends on who you ask.

Many of the hate-militia threads are about game version 1.0 when it was indeed very bad. It was greatly buffed for 1.5, and is a useful unit now.
