OFFICIAL COLD WAR ROLE-PLAY

We will have a Youtube Series on this.

Description

It is April 1st, 1950. In Europe, the Western Allies and the Soviet Union, once allies, are in a standoff which will decide the death of the world, or the everlasting peace. Germany, a nation which had once brought the world on its knees, is now divided into two countries, as well as its capital, Berlin.

On one side, we have NATO, the US, West Berlin and West Germany and on the other, we have the Warsaw Pact, East Berlin and East Germany. In Asia the communist North Korea is readying to unite the nation of Korea into one. The capitalist South Korea has no intent of going to war with their northern neighbours but may be forced into it very soon.

In London, the British worry ever more about Stalin’s power, and thus have set up an Operation which would lead to total war with Stalin. This is a plan which many have called to radical, but in the matter of total war, they are ready to use it if and and when needed.

The theory of the domino effect has led Truman to begin sending aid to the South Koreans as the looming threat of the North builds up even further. Washington eyes the Korean Peninsula like a hawk waiting for the first shot to be fired. Douglas MacArthur, a hero of the Second World War, is confident he will throw back the communist advance if he needed to.

In Paris, word of the war in Vietnam grow, and the fear of the French losing its main Asian colony has almost come true. As the Communist party in Vietnam has nearly taken back half of the country, and looks to keep on going until all of Indochina is under the communist banner.

Technologically, the US pushes its nuclear techniques and equipment faster and faster. Already America has more than 250 bombs which greatly outnumber the Soviets’, but the Russians have started their Nuclear testing and manufacturing lines, and soon, both nations will have equal numbers of warheads and nuclear bombs, and both will have the power to destroy the world.

The split between East and West has never before been this stark. The leaders of both the Eastern and Western blocs need to compromise where they can and where they can’t, they shouldn’t. The world itself is at stake. All it needs is a match to burn the world.

Rules

  1. No Gold, and if you use it by accident, talk to us and we will figure out what to do (better you tell us then us finding out).
  2. Zero trolling, you troll, you are removed.
  3. The two Admins can and will get rid of you if we see you as acting up, or causing a massive mess of the RP.
  4. Make realistic decisions in the roleplay. Meaning no Communist and Democratic nation being allies.
  5. Keep NATO and the Warsaw Pact together. No one is allowed to leave when they are the starting members, (with the exception of the USA or France if the admin gives a go-ahead), until the Cold War is over. (the admin will say when it is over)
  6. Post as frequently as possible.
  7. Always use as good grammar as you can.
  8. As much as you can, try to avoid WWIII in the first few days of the RP. No one wants to see the Soviets and Americans at war in 10 years game time. That doesn’t mean you can’t threaten it, just try to avoid it.

Special Rules

  1. There are five major nations: US, UK, France, USSR, and China.
  2. Each nuclear nation can build a nuke after timed events.

  • USA and USSR - Can build nukes from the start of the game
  • UK can build nukes in 1952
  • France can build nukes in 1960
  • China can build nukes in 1964
  • Israel can build nukes in 1967
  • India can build nukes in 1974
  • South Africa can make nukes in 1980 (Israel and South Africa must have good relations from when Israel gained the bomb, and South Africa must still have the partite government)
  • Pakistan can build nukes in 1998 (China and Pakistan must have good relations throughout the RP to do this)
3. To make sure everyone does run around with nukes threatening to blow up the world, there is no trading anything nuclear at all.

4. To make sure when WWIII does happen the RP doesn't end in a total fire, any power with nuclear capabilities must nuke only provinces with over three VPs.

6. Now, many may not know, but China and the USSR weren’t much of friends after Stalin died. After Stalin dies, which must happen before 1957, China and the Soviet Union must break ties. Every once in awhile, China or the USSR can enter each other’s provinces on the border but they may not take a province unless they want to start a full war. They may only go on the roads leading to the cities, but they may not capture the city itself.

7. All Democratic nations, and some Communist ones if you want, must have general elections every four years to simplify things.

Korean War

We start the role-play as Korean War is heating up. Any major nation can get involved, as well as the United Nations. If the UN gets involved, the Soviets can not veto the action to intervene since they were not present at the meeting. No nation is to take land for themselves in this war unless they are North or South Korea. In the event of one beating the other in a single war, the defeated nation is allowed to station troops in either the United States or the Soviet Union until it is time for a rebellion to begin.

Decolonisation

Decolonisation was something took place from the end of World War II and ended with Hong Kong being returned to the Chinese in the 1990s. As time goes on, the colonies of each major nation can break away from the motherland and then become its own state, either by planned events or by negotiation. I’ll let you guys pick if you want negotiation or planned events.

Time Rules

-Every day in real life equals six months game time.

-The role-play ends either when the Cold War is declared over by the admin or when Day 150 hits (assuming it doesn’t absolutely break up).

P.S: Please reply if possible: Am I supposed to take all the USSR's states to form its actual form? Or no?

Name of the leader of your country in 1950: Joseph Stalin.

Have you read all of the rules for this role-play? Yes. And; I won't act stupid.

Do you agree to follow all of the rules for this role-play? I will follow the rules of this roleplay.

Do you agree to be respectful to the people in this role-play and the admins running it? Of course.

Will you play in this role-play as often if you can? Indeed. Expect me on every day.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:

Nikita Khrushchev ashamed at Hungary:

After a swiftly quelled rebellion in Hungary, Nikita Khrushchev shows deep shame in Hungary. :fluch:

"I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST YOU, HUNGARY. I THOUGHT YOU WOULD PROVE A LOYAL COMPANION OF THE USSR. BUT YET, I SEE HERE, YOU CLEARLY HAVE NO RESPECT. WE TRY TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR YOU, AND YOU REBEL? NOT ONLY THAT, BUT EVEN AFTER YOUR DEMANDS WERE MET, YOU WERE STILL ANGRY."

"This behavior is unacceptable. I think this deserves for a little punishment, agreed? you don't disrespect us."

As said from Nikita Khrushchev.

USSR DENOUNCES N.A.T.O AND WEST GERMANY:

With recent actions behind N.A.T.O, as well as actions taken by West Germany, USSR responds with the Warsaw Pact. This legitimizes the presence of USSR military units in members of the pact. They assure that this is for defense reasons, just as N.A.T.O stated with its military activity in Western Germany.

Well, I hope I'm accepted, or it's going to be another stop on the long road to a good roleplay. :tumbleweed:

P.S: I actually spend the time to watch as many documentaries and read books about the nations I play as, to get a realistic idea of how it runs.

While I do appreciate your example and the work you put into your character, we have a USSR already who had reserved it before you applied. I just didn't edit the post.

You could very easily be an Eastern European nation like Greater Romania or even North Korea! You would fit well into those roles!

Country: India

Name of Leader: Jawaharlal Nehru

Read all Rules: Yes, and I agree to these terms and conditions.

Follow Rules: To the letter.

Respect Plot and Other Players: I will stay in character as much as possible, but I realize there is a fine line between staying in character and disrespect for others.

Play Often: Yes.

Example:

It is now 1950, nearly three years after a peaceful revolution against Britain, the empire of all empires, and two-and-a-half years after our liberator, Mahatma Gandhi, was shot and killed. As Albert Einstein said, "Generations to come will scarce believe that a man like this lived." Putting our reverence for Gandhi aside, India is an old country with a new government, and some may say we are weak now that the Europeans are gone. On the contrary, India is stronger than ever, and has even begun progressing toward democracy, where every voice is heard. In other words, India has come a long way since being controlled by the most powerful empire in the world.

In the years following India's independence, many suspect the country is still in turmoil. Not so. There is no civil war or political upheaval; in fact, crime rates are as low as they were pre-1940, and the tourist industry is booming. Taj Mahal is still as beautiful (and sacred) as when it was built. Come one, come all! Although, if a country decides to "visit" our border provinces, there will be assumption that you would like the Indian military to "visit" you as well. Despite presumptions that India is weak because it is new. India is a country of 375 million people (To put this into perspective, the US had 155 million people at the time), and not to be absentmindedly swatted at like a particularly annoying fly. India is a force to be reckoned with, not a weak, squabbling fledgling of a country in turmoil.

Role-play Example (At least two paragraphs):

For some reason, David Ben Gurion and his Israeli countrymen woke up this morning in South Sudan. Being happy enough to have a land of their own, they all agreed, 'One place is as good as the next.' Then they had a flag raising ceremony, after which each man, woman, and child quietly said, 'Never again.'

Israel plans to take the backwards, third-world country they were given and to develop it fully. First, they will develop it economically. Then they will develop it socially. Then they will develop it militarily, and they warn any would-be aggressors in the region against anything that can be so much as perceived as an act of war.

Accepted, but being South Sudan is just part of the landswap. You're not actually conquering it. You're still Israel, but your core provinces are still around so you are more productive.

Just a few questions: Is it possible to nations ´´evolve´´ their tech over time? Like for an example, if a player manages very well his nation, is it possible for him to pass the tech limit? Also, is there a Factory level limit? Can nations coalitions in the game?

Today, the President of Brazil, Eurico Gaspar Dutra, announced political reforms on the Government, in both internal and external aspects of Brazil´s politics, he also announced a review on the country´s industrial and economic politics. In the following, there´s a piece of his announcement:

´´I, Eurico Gaspar Dutra, the sixteenth president of the Federative Republic of Brazil, hereby announce that I´m looking forward to reform Brazil´s political policies, we are a nation still standing strong, however, we have no need to involve ourselves in the flames of war and misery, we desire to keep walking forward, to keep growing in prosperity, we aim to enter and never ending golden age, we the people desire that! In the recent war, many nations fell, even superpower succumbed to human greed and hate, I know that this country aims the opposite of that. When we begin our roleplay, I think the USA and USSR should found two coalitions, representing Capitalism and Communism. Of course, joining either coalition should be optional. The coalitions may not mean anything, but it may be a good organizer of sides.

"I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it." -Jack Handey

I see what you mean, but wouldn't it be better to just make separate coalitions for separate powers, like maybe the British Empire for Britain and it's colonies. And colonies can vote to leave to represent decolonization if they wish. For example the British Empire and French Empire. Than China and Russia can have separate coalitions to show nations in their respective spheres of influence. Also the U.S could have a coalition for puppet states and occupied states. Of course each nation would have full power over itself so it can be fun, of Jophan, this is merely another version though, of your idea.

Role-play Example (at least two paragraphs):

Today, Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan has announced that diplomatic relations with Taiwan has ended in favour for closer ties with the PRC (Peoples Republic of China). "We hope for close ties with the PRC and believe they are a great ally to counter the power of the Indian nation" says Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan. " With China on our side, India should be rethinking their ways" said Prime Minister Khan.

The Pakistani military has been growing its presence in the Kashmir region in response to India's claim to the region. The Prime Minister says that Kashmir is Muslim territory and "Pakistan will protect Kashmir at all costs even if that means war". The Prime Minister also gave some of its claims of Kashmir to China in efforts to bring the two nations ever closer. It is highly likely that if Pakistan is to go to war with India, China will have full support of Pakistan. In other news, Pakistan has reported lower unemployment rates due to industrialisation of the nation with help from China.

This is most likely what will happen.

NATO, the Warsaw Pact, British colonies, French colonies, and any other major alliances that people wish to create themselves will be in the game.

Of course, it will require a fair amount of RPing to create your own faction. You can't just make Brazil form the Great Brazilian Coalition and take over South America.

Would you two send me your in-game names? This may seem inconvenient to you, but it would help me out a lot. Your articles are very good, though.
My in-game name is Nathan the Warrior as well.

Thank you both! I will let you know if you are accepted as soon as possible.
