1.5 and lack of options

I stopped playing just before anything about 1.5 was mentioned, and I come back as I missed the 1.0 callofwar and I have now played a map on 1.5 and I didn't enjoy it (and I did win). But I know we are being forced into playing the 1.5 map now instead of the classic 1.0 which I enjoy, I want to know in the future when 1.5 will be put on everyone will there be anyway for people like myself to stay with the classic 1.0? As I don't enjoy it and feel like it is restrictive

There is no timeline for when, or even if, 1.0 will disappear.

It seems like it will be taken away and I heard from others it will be as it is filled with 1.5 and not many 1.0 games left maybe only 3 at a time?

Can you elaborate? I also stopped playing a while before 1.5 was around but picked back up with 1.5 because I think it is absolutely brilliant. There are so many more options! In 1.0 there were only (6?) units that had either higher attack than defence or the same numbers for attack and defense. If I remember correctly, light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks, commando's, fighter planes and submarine's were the only ones with higher attack than defence or attack and defence being the same values.

What did this mean? Well simply put, in 1.0 if you exploit the defensive position you would always win. If you combined a larger economy with a stack of units with ranged units behind them your opponent had no chance but to charge in and do a little damage. But in the end it would not matter because the defence of your own units was higher and when supported by ranged units it was futile to begin with. Defenders had a MAJOR advantage in 1.0.

Also, in 1.0 because airplanes had the same attack and defence their defence could be exploited. Now its actually better to be on the attack with planes. When speaking of a lack of options I think 1.0 has a serious lack of options whereas 1.5 has many more.

Take fighting enemy medium tanks for example. In 1.0 you made tank destroyers you would win in an open field and when you used anti tank guns in a city you would win. And a combo of both (but still probably tank destroyers because of the HP) anywhere else and you would win. No questions asked.

In 1.5 running into an opponent that uses medium tanks is a whole different story. For starters, which doctrine does the enemy have and which doctrine do you have? If the enemy has axis you will want 2 units of your own against 1 medium tank if you are soviet doctrine. If you yourself have axis and the enemy has soviet then you will win most 1 vs 1's (depending on your upgrade levels). What if you see an enemy tank in a forrest and you have the Pan-Asian doctrine? Then the tank destroyers is a great option even on the assault. Or you could use SP artillery if you are allies, or use normal artillery and hide an anti tank gun between your arty and the enemy medium tank. Or you can use planes that specialise in fighting heavy armour, does the enemy have planes? Which ones, do you have fighters of your own?

There are so many more things to take into account in 1.5 that its almost non comparable to 1.0.

I am sorry but when you say that 1.5 has a lack of options I really do not see what you mean.

I am not saying 1.5 had lack of options, I am saying they will get rid of 1.0 hence lack of options. They haven't announced yet that 1.0 will go, but if you look at new matches it is clear they will stop it. I am not a fan of 1.5 and all the complexity of it, I prefer 1.0 and the simplicity of it, I find it more fun. So I want 1.0 to stay around and not be taken out of the rotation, they can make 1.5 as complicated as they want for people who want it and leave 1.0 simple for people who like it.

We aren't planning to eliminate 1.0 as a whole like Doc said. I've seen it still in the mix on new games.

1.5 isn't really that complicated. I think the reason you feel its hard is because you are new and don't understand some parts. But once you get used to 1.5, you will find that its just as simple as 1.0.
