WTF who came up with this update? Reverse it this is literally dumbest update ever made. Why even make it? Just make this an option for low graphic mode.
12 Jan Graphics Update (It hasn't been posted yet but it is live??)
I am not sure what the update is called as it has not been formally announced in the news yet, but it has gone live in my game rounds. At first I thought it was a nice little gui tweak but noticed 2 issues at least for me.
1) the zoom level I wish could be toggled, when I zoom out to the level i like to play at most details go away where they could be seen in the previous gui, I hope that this can be user adjusted in the future.
2) When you have multiple armies engaged in a single area even when zoomed all the way in things get a bit too cluttered (think 4+ stacks fighting). Not sure what the fix for this could be but again i prefer the previous version despite the gui looking a little bit sharper when looking at a single stack and zoomed in.

The concept is good, I suggest instead of having all units shown and separated by their armour class they should only show that when you click on a unit or when you move your cursor over them. The units get quite clustered and their is not much space when there are several armies.
I think the squares should be only there when you zoom out. You should always be able to see your units I think. Another reason is that when you zoom out and your ships and subs disappear it makes these awkward circles of vision which you can see.

Having this display for selected units would be a great solution instead of being forced to all units. Making it a selectable option like low graphics would also be a good solution, Hopefully we see a fast patch to adjust this further.Kewin09 wrote:

In classic mode, we don't have the 1.5 Gui update. Or it has not been integrated correctly.
We no longer have numbers next to our troop stacks (See attached image).
Also, when zooming out all troops disappear.
This needs fixed ASAP.
FIX IT NOW BYTROLABS!
The units also seem smaller to me, maybe change their size relative to the zoom so you can always see them but they are neither too big or too small. To me I think they are too small right now.
I can also no longer see that units are engaged in fighting, I don't know if this is a bug or part of the update
In 1.0 I do not have the issues mentioned here (only this message)

I don't like this update
Yes some of my alliance mates are not able to see units at all no matter what zoom level, I asked them to submit bug reports.Kewin09 wrote:

I am surprised these issues didn't come out in testing before making it live.
Honestly, I love the new update so far. It looks much cleaner and simpler while allowing you to see the full map when zoomed out, but I suppose I'm in the minority here.
I guess making it optional would be great though.
the full map dosent show troops movements and troops in general, really bad for large nations like USA

I suppose it varies by map? In the world map I can see almost every unit in Africa at the same time.
I do have my browser zoomed out a bit though so maybe that is helping.

Yeah, that's the point lol.
I personally like it so I can see the actual map. Troops are just clutter at that zoom level anyway and I can't give any orders. For me at least
I like to play having my map zoomed out a bit. I said I cannot see the world like you because when I zoom out all units disappear so I was wandering how come you can see units when you zoom out. When you prefer playing zoomed out to give orders you can't do that, or at least I can't, because they disappear

having a bird's eye view of the nation's army is very important, i miss being able to do that

Hello Bytro Team,
I understand that you are always looking to improve the gameplay and interface in any way possible. However, I feel that this upgrade is a step backwards for you. I an effort to pull in and immerse the gamer in the gaming experience, it seems the more detail you can display the better. This update seems very cheap and makes me feel like I am playing Stratego and not Call of War.
Honestly, I hope that you can reverse this quickly or at least let us choose how our GUI looks because this is not enjoyable to play.

Another thing I have noticed is I cannot see my planes attack range whether I hover over them or click on them

Some general words:
Reason for the change is to present the information in a more orderly and clean way (the old way of attaching army info to unit images was unprofessional and pixelated), and to also include additional information that was not shown before (like hitpoints and additional army status info).
At the heart this is a strategy game and not an action game, so displaying units as abstract symbols on higher zoom levels, like on a strategic NATO map that Generals use, should imo not be a divisive change.
We of course listen to your feedback and look forward to improving this feature in future updates. So please keep giving us feedback, but civil. Feedback like "this sucks, change it back" does not help since we have no plan to change it back.
Hope you help us improving the feature and that you get used to it. As I said it has increased functionality so if used right it should give you a better overview than before.
Now to answer some posts:
Thanks for the feedback. If you have examples of crowded fights you can post them as screenshots, we can take a look and think about how we can improve them.Speedychef wrote:

As for the detail level, we actually show more army details then before on the zoomed-in view. On the mid zoom level the thing we are omitting now is the exact number of units, but we are thinking of implementing them again in the next update. Right now the number of units is indicated by the amount of dots in the bottom corner: 1 dot = 1-4 units, 2 dots = 5-9 units, 3 dots = 10+ units.
Sadly this comment is not helpful. If you have specific complaints please voice them in a civilized manner.zecevi123 wrote:

It is intended that in classic mode the old view is used.Artmiger wrote:

What is also intended is that when zoomed out to 90% or even higher armies are faded out, because nearly no one gives orders on that zoom level and troops start to overlap and become very pixelated. The highest zoom level is there to show the political situation of the map, so we focus only on country borders and country names there.
That numbers are not shown in classic stacks is a bug. I myself still see numbers in my classic game, can you please clear cache and try again?
It is still shown if units are engaged in a fight. Instead of showing an extra icon where it was unclear to which army it belongs we now show the icon in the army's label directly. Notice the lightning symbol as well as the red background filling up. Once it is completely filled the combat tick is happening. The same goes for all other army activities, which all have their own icons and background timer color.Kewin09 wrote:

Additionally, armies fighting or taking damage have their icons or health bars slowly pulsating, depending on the zoom level.
Invisible units are a bug and we are right now releasing a fix, hopefully this fixes the issue. Please clear your cache and check it again in a moment.Speedychef wrote:

The feature was on beta 2 weeks before we released it, we did not receive complaints from our frontline pioneers and also no one encountered this bug there, sadly.

Normally a zoom-out level like 80% is enough to see a whole country and its armies, even if its a big oneKarl von Krass wrote:

That is a bug then. I still see the attack ranged circles in my game. Can you please clear your cache and try again?Kewin09 wrote:

You have mentioned that troops will only disappear at 90% zoom out.
I just tested this on PC as I feel it does so sooner.
If I start from being all the way zoomed in and use the roller on my mouse, it takes me 30 (lets call it motions) to zoom all the way out.
My units disappear on the 23rd motion, which, by the maths is at zoom 76.67%
90% could be bearable if it worked correctly, but my units are disappearing too soon with regards to zoom level.

Clearing cache has done it, cheers
