1932Road to war Map: How difficult would it be to include Greater Romania as a Player?
•
It seems to me, that as the third largest Axis an later fourth largest Ally, Romania should be a playable country on this map. By 1944, Romania had 1.25 million men(more than 33 divisions) on the front lines serving. Yet for some strange reason they are omitted and Yugoslavia which ddn't even last past '41, is playable! Is it possible to rectify this? It would be insanely fun to play Romania in my opinion no matter how inept they are just to see how much better one could do with a big handicap, just say'in,

Playing as the unplayable countries is something that seems to keep popping up. I would love to be able to play as not only Romania, but any other country that is unplayable (including Luxembourg). I'd like to see this added as a special game mode in the future.
The community differs in opinion in this one. Some think that it would be stupid and that those countries would be easy to overrrun, while half of us think it would be fun and a challenge. I support you, but I don't think it'll be added in the near future.

I think that playing as smaller countries would be good for some matches. Imagine Poland, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Lithuania, Belgium, and the Netherlands teaming up on and defeating Germany in the Blitzkrieg map. To see a small nation rise from three provinces to ruling the world somehow would be insanely fun, I think.

In the long run it would be horrible, because new players would join a match, unknowingly pick one of those **** countries not realizing that they are bad, be killed instantly, and ragequit, never to play again.
This would be bad for Call of War's long term expansion.
Also, how do you propose that those countries build any troops if they barely start with any resources?

Eh, true. And that's the challenge: it is difficult to gain resources.

I dont think it would be bad at all. I don't think new players would want to pick a small country to play as, they usually pick the biggest ones(the bigger the better right?). The players who would choose this would probably be the same ones who would rage quit anyways. It would be a challenge for us more experience players. I think that was what PurplePizza was trying to say.
Plus, it could be a gold mark round. (I don't want it to be a gold mark round, but hey)

Maybe there could be a warning when you pick one of these countries, saying that it's really small and pathetic and you'll probably get steamrolled.

The thing is, Greater Romania is a country choice for the 22 player game and is quite playable. Additionally, Romania had over 1.25 million men on the front line in '44, boasting over 33 divisions on the Eastern Front to Germany's 19 divisions. It is crazy to compare the overall WWII contribution of Belguim, Luxembourg, Denmark, etc... to that of Romania. In the 1939 game that has the historical map, Romania is not a possibility as a choice while Yugoslavia, is. Yugoslavia is surrounded by Axis countries and historically was out of the war early as Germany and Italy could not allow it to exist as an allied country, which makes for a much sooner departure than that of Romania.

I like it for this one country due to Romania kicking some ass and getting their fair share of kills in the USSR during WWII.

But some of us would want to play with the smaller countries. More of a challenge. And before you choose it, a warning comes up saying how difficult it is to win and stuff. New players would get the big ones anyway.

Ew, no. Only Romania, maybe Greece. Anywhere else is just stupid. Nowhere else really put up much of a resistance *cough* Luxembourg *cough*.

I'd like to play as Luxembourg. Invade Belgium, Holland, expand a bit. I remind you that games have around 5 people on average. Gives you enough time to expand.

Not really. Lux doesn't have a city and only one tiny province that is completely realistic. Having the same army as everyone else would be stupid and you would not be able to grow an army past, around, 5 troops in total due to the fact that you could only produce one resource along with a piddly bit of money and very little manpower. Any nearby country would flatten you.

The thing is, you could get a big enough army to invade Belgium and Holland, and from there you could take a big country. And no nearby country would invade you 'cpos most countries nowadays are not taken by a player, just 3 or 4 people are playing a game.
The past is a foreign country.
14 Oct 2015, 15:44
Not really. So you say give scrubs big countries? Most people who you say will go inactive send out their armies and then quit. I see it all the time.

Whatever. I'd still find it fun.
