Add a new language

Don’t only like 20 million people around the world speak Croatian? Only a few thousand of them are gonna play a game, and they’ll most likely have knowledge in a second language. While it would be great to have a server for every language, there just isn’t enough of a market… and other language like iirc Arabic and French don’t even have their own servers yet?

I think that when adding a new language to the game, what would be more relevant is how many of the speakers play CoW, not how many speakers there are total. Otherwise they would have added Hindi, Urdu and Indonesian by now.

Yes, Turkish for example is a language, but I don’t believe Mandarin is for the reason shown above. Unless this game is actually a hit played by millions of Croatians, I don’t see why it would be added.

eh, just give em their language. more languages means more player, and more player means more money for bytro.

Paying for servers and translating everything is much more expensive than you think.

This being a German game its target appeal is largely to central and western Europeans and to the English-speaking world.

Although the only non-European languages that are offered are Japanese and Turkish (both Altaic), Czech and many other European languages have their own server. Dutch does too.

But this does not mean that they should add more! I ventured once into the Czech server and it is a shell with functionally no activity. Presumably the only reason it exists is because they could recruit mods for it. I checked it again today, the chat hadn't been replied to for seven hours and the current Free For All has been filling up for six days.

Similarly, even though there are 17 million of us, the Dutch server is not as active, and the player base is not as good. So I prefer English anyway. I think a lot of bilingual people do. The most active servers, by far, are the English and German ones.

Frankly I don't think there's demand for another language, particularly for a relatively niche one. If you can understand English, it is probably better to play on the English language server.

I would also like to see Croatian added as an avialable language

I would like to see Greek added. Or Albanian.

I would to see caveman added. Give them representation!

This would be great! I also speak Croatian as a native language and would like to see it added into the game. Having a separate Croatian server would be awesome!

Are you kidding? Do you know how many Ustaše, neo-nazis and other no-goods this would attract? I’m sure Bytro doesn’t want to worry about all that now.

Also, what about Cyrillic Serbian? Why should Croatian be added as a language base and not Serbian?
