Add Core Provinces

In World War II and the years after, many country borders changed and incorporated other territories into them. For example, the Weimar Republic became the German Reich which incorporated Austria, the Sudetenland, western Poland, Alsace-Lorriane, and Luxembourg. Now I see how this could be problematic, but it's good for roleplay and functionality since non-core provinces are worthless unless you have a massive empire. I think that you should only be able to add a non-core province to your core provinces:

  1. Once per day
  2. If it's bordering an existing core province
  3. If it has over 70% morale

There are core provinces in Call of War and Iron Order 1919. Supremacy 1914 is a much more simplistic game, and I don't know the 4th game you speak of.

Conflict of nations, they have a different system. COW and IO are apparently the smaller of Bytro’s games as well, though I’m still not sure on that.

Supremacy 1914 is dated, and from what I can tell it has lost a lot of popularity even after Bytro made large updates. Call of War is by far the current most popular of Bytro games, with Iron Order still being fixed and updated frequently. This is definitely a plausible feature, and a good one too if you ask me. I understand the negatives, but the pros outweigh the cons. Everything in this game can be exploited, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't add more good ideas.

According to Freezy a month ago it and CON both currently have larger playerbases. Weird considering it’s honestly not that fun.. Either way I still don’t get how the pro’s exactly outweigh the cons. So what if you don’t get as many resources? Everyone else doesn’t as well, so it balances out. Not to mention that this game already has a huge learning curve that makes it very hard for new players to gain skill, causing a large turnover rate. Adding another layer of complexity would only worsen that and hurt the game more in that sense…

To be honest the game isn't really that difficult to understand, every single thing you need to know is in either the tutorial, the wiki, or the forum. Adding core provinces just makes sense, think about it. If a province is bordering your country and has been under positive occupation for a long time, why is it still considered so differently? And the whole concept of core provinces and non-core provinces just doesn't even make sense in the first place. By adding core provinces you can have pretty borders, more resources, and defense bonuses. It's also just common sense if you're gonna have a system of core and non-core provinces.

The game takes ages to really learn, and many new players are overwhelmed. I and many players here are still learning things!

Crayfish just citied the example of Indonesia. China conquered and ruled Vietnam for 1000 years, yet it still never become Chinese. The Ottomans ruled the Middle East and Balkans for hundreds of years. Are Serbs Turks? Are Egyptians Turks? Apart from some culturally similar areas it’s extremely hard to incorporate new lands into your culture, unless you either

1. Commit genocide and replace their culture

2. Have a religion (like Islam) that allows you to make a common identity

3. Very slowly assimilate a culture into you over a very long period of time.

1 is should and will not be allowed, and the others are not gonna take place in 20 years during the age of nationalism.

Look at Germany in WWII, they incorporated many areas into their nation. Even peacefully as they marched right into Austria. Not even on the subject of ethnicity, look at my other replies again.

Those are a few culturally German areas! They couldn’t incorporate France, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Norway, Yugoslavia, or many more! Incorporating conquered people into your country is very rarely successfully done and takes ages. Austria collapsed for a reason!

The Saviour tried to incorporate Angola, but then he dies and look, it’s the MPLA!
I wpuld say Angola and Mozambique were core that that time

The MPLA was formed in 1961, before he died. Well Portugal kind of destroyed it, then the thing happened in 1974 and it was back again, UNITA and MPLA who ever almost dead, now were back and fought each other.

The MPLA still holds the majority in Anglan assembly today.

Maybe at times things were peaceful, but overall people are gonna be dissatisfied when being colonized. While Portuguese is still their offical language, their native tongue is still more widely spoken. It’s just that when you try to control larger countries entire seas away, it’s very much a ticking time bomb when they will inevitably break free. Even France, which was closer to Algeria and far far more powerful than Portugal failed to turn Algeria into its core lands and was kicked out. The Soviet Union and Russian empires lost the Baltic states the second they had the chance to leave! And of course you saw what happened to the Ottomans. Colonialism is bad!

we were much closer to them, they still love us.... but okay

The President

America still loves Britain… Poland and Germany are secretly lovers for sure… I don’t think Mexico and Spain hold to much bad blood. Doesn’t mean they want them in power again!

CarKing the 6th of the Abrahamic Caliphate

Angola is a different scenario. Brazil is different.

both love us.

Hence forth, this idea is okay-ish, but doubtfully woukd work out if thought in practically.

The President

Love ≠ wants to be part of tho.

CarKing the 6th of the Abrahamic Caliphate

Maybe, well, the Mozambicans did, and actively supported us. Angola was mostly in our support. Panjim was religion based. Guinea was no.

The President

Then why are they not part of Portugal? Commie militia can’t break free without popular support…

CarKing the 6th of the Abrahamic Caliphate

Facepalm.

THEY DID NOT WIN THE WAR, THE NEW STATE LEADERSHIP WAS OVERTHROWN AND THE POST REVOLUTION GOVERNMENT ENDED THE WAR.

IF OTHERWISE, WE WOULD SEE THEIR INDEPENDENCE IN THE 90’S

The President

IT WAS A GOOD THING, PORTUGAL WOULD HAVE DEGRADED FURTHER AND BEEN EVEN MORE POOR THAN IT IS TODAY! BY THE TIME THEY WERE PUT OF AFRICA MANY THOUSANDS MORE WOULD BE DEAD! :wallbash

they would've won in a few years, and that would prevent the even bloodier civil war from happening.

Nevertheless this suggestion doesn't really makes sense if you think about it, but I'm on a 50-50 with this.

Who would have won? Portugal or the rebels?

That I can agree with, Saviour.
