Add Core Provinces

In World War II and the years after, many country borders changed and incorporated other territories into them. For example, the Weimar Republic became the German Reich which incorporated Austria, the Sudetenland, western Poland, Alsace-Lorriane, and Luxembourg. Now I see how this could be problematic, but it's good for roleplay and functionality since non-core provinces are worthless unless you have a massive empire. I think that you should only be able to add a non-core province to your core provinces:

  1. Once per day
  2. If it's bordering an existing core province
  3. If it has over 70% morale

Why is it dumb? Why not have it? Like you really think you’d just be welcomed with open arms when taking over a country? I don’t know about you but this whole idea is just pointless and not a real improvement, just more complexity that wouldn’t truly make sense.

My two cents:

Only place this would make sense is in HWW. I agree with Crayfish that there can be shared cores for certain nations in HWW (Danzig for Poland/Germany/FCD), but outside of HWW, it would make the game too unbalanced.

For Mr. Schleicher's proposal, it would be too radical of a change and too ahistorical. The people of occupied Lublin (Poland) didn't provide as many resources to Germany as much as, let's say, Frankfurt (Germany). In fact, the people of Lublin would have provided nothing at all, so Germany had to forcefully extract resources from them (an in-game representation is as morale is lower, rss production is less). As time goes, people get used to the German occupiers and are less inclined to hinder the Germans (for fear of their own life). But they will never fully cooperate with the Germans as much as they did with their own government (nationalism at play here). In other games like Hoi4, its simulated with compliance and stuff, but CoW isn't there yet, so we'll have to make do with the current system. I do agree that an update would be nice for the whole rss extraction system, but just allowing nations to annex cores without any historical justification isn't the solution.

No historical part of this game is actually realistic. All cities and provinces are 100% equal. Why can't I expand my core territory even after weeks of gameplay? Again you ignore what I said, maybe we should just get rid of the core/non-core concept altogether. Very little of this game is realistic and I don't see why it exists. I also don't see how being able to convert provinces would be unbalanced.

Just because much is unrealistic, doesn’t mean to all is or should be. We shouldn’t discount some realism for an idea that is honestly pretty pointless. Remove a system that has been in the game and NEVER complained about why? You have any proof of how it would be better or players would prefer it? It’s not that we can’t add this, it is that we shouldn’t. It’s not a good idea. It doesn’t make that the game that much more fun. I vastly prefer Crayfish’s idea.

Why can't I ride unicorns and make my troops grow beards of spinach? Where are you going to draw the line? The whole point of the core/non-core system is that is aims to simulate reality. Sure, it's not a perfect rendition, but nothing is. The game wouldn't be nearly as fun if all the rss are just thrown at your feet. And "very little of this game is realistic" is subjective: to a WW2 historian, it might not be, but for the average teenage kid looking for a cool war-related game (which, mind you, is Bytro's target audience), it is one of the more realistic WW2 games out there. And you say converting provinces isn't unbalanced? The ability to suddenly jump from 25% to 100% rss production? What's the point of industry? It'll make every unit more abundant, including units that are supposed to be hard to make because of rss limitations, like elite units, and even nuclear bombers. And what about research? The whole point of research is that it is expensive, and that the opportunity cost of researching level 3 mot inf is outweighed by producing 2 level 2 mot infs.
