Different type. You can’t own people like the plantations, rather companies screw over workers from the Indian subcontinent and force them to work for very little. They do still commit the death penalty for idiotic things.

I would never want to visit one of those countries. For reasons like this.

Imperialism and Slavery are so different it’s not even funny that you consider them the same! Please search it up. Imperialism is countries trying to diplomatically and militarily influence and take over other countries. Slavery is the owning of a person and forcing them to do things that they may not want to.

This is where things get a bit tender. You may hear all this, but do not let it influence you about the people! I am an Arab, and I myself have heard this from others; the people are not bad! Yes, government is insane and some values are… strange, but your average person in the gulf is not a rich, sexist, homophobic slave-owning maniac. These are still wonderful places with vibrant culture, you just have to look past the aspect of the government and some people. And remember that not all Arabs are even in those countries, others, in fact more live in the Levant, Mesopotamia, North Africa, and many beyond. Not all these places are the same, and even the gulf states are still wonderful countries with great people.

And you should always travel if you can! See the world and meet people! There are amazing things out there, and you can’t rely on the internet to find the truth, you have to go there and see it yourself! You’ll find that what you hear may not be the exactly the same as how it is..
