You are actually supposed to be age 18 or older, according to ToS...right?

Hey guys, recently I've been thinking about how harsh the chat rules are and had an idea that might make Bytro Labs and the community happy. I understand the need to keep a game family friendly I really do, It comes down to marketing. Younger players will not play this game if say their parents see profanity or it is seen as a bad influence. The direct effect of that is loss in profit thanks to a decrease in younger players. I completely support there not being profanity in the chat rooms. At times though I begin to feel as if I'm back in high school with the teacher telling me to watch my mouth. It can be a bit stagnant not being able to discuss topics, joke etc... with other adults.
So I came up with the idea, why not create a separate channel for persons of 18+. Obviously lets not get carried away their should still be some limits to what can be said, personal attacks, sexual harassment etc... For example the very popular browser game RuneScape for as long as I remember had a very extreme ban on any profanity. Then a few years ago they lifted it and added a filter with an on and off options. It really did goods things for the community as players could speak with a more ease and friends could joke and talk as they liked without the threat of a ban.
To implement this I though that during sign up it would also ask for your age, blocking anyone not 18+ from joining that certain chat room we could also extend it to game rounds requiring the player to be 18+.

3.2 Eligibility is restricted to persons over the age of 18 or to persons under the age of 18 whose legal representatives have given their consent to participation in the game.StrangeTalent wrote:

Ah, I ignored that part when I read the ToS.

My question is what kind of conversation which is currently not allowed you want to be allow. Because I don't see how is anyone restricted to say anything that is inside the limits of normal and respectfull human conversation.
I think your missing the point here.Paramunac wrote:

Well, I ask for it so I can understand.Kollin wrote:

My mistake, I was rude. My point is sometimes conversations in games can lean a little towards the raunchy side when things heat up. at least for me this is a part of gaming I really enjoy. If you have ever played an fps online you'll know what I mean.Paramunac wrote:

Indeed that is the question. The rules are not that "harsh", unless you are swearing or calling someone an insult, you will be alright. If you make an obvious ToS break, then you will be warned.Paramunac wrote:

Limiting the rules, would be a bad influence indeed. And regardless of the younger folks, not everyone like to see swearing and such.Kollin wrote:

No one would chat in global... It would be a mess to moderate....Kollin wrote:

You cant be sure that someone wont lie about their age.Kollin wrote:

Could a mod close this thread? As I have gotten a response I see no further purpose for it to remain open. Thanks
