Air Transfer distance

I noticed that the distance an aircraft can fly when you are transferring its position is still its patrol range

This is highly unrealistic. An aircraft can fly at least double that distance in a straight line (not to mention the fuel it has available to stay on patrol)

The aircraft often don't even have the range to fly ONE province away even though both provinces have an airfield. (on the 100 player map) crazy!

AGREED: Aircraft really should be able to transfer from one airbase to another at twice their patrol range - in fact it should probably be closer to 3 x the patrol range. While patrolling, aircraft are carrying munitions and have to have enough fuel to loiter (plus to form up when taking off for a mission), etc. Not to mention many aircraft were able to carry extra fuel to extend the transfer range - for the US not to be able to fly planes across the Atlantic via Greenland and Iceland to UK defies history - check it out

Reminds me of that part in Roald Dahl's life story when he flew a Hurri from North Africa to Greece. He was told the drop tanks usually work and if they didn't, he should bail out :)

Don't give them any ideas. They might just decrease the patrol range which would blow.
