Alternative ranking system
The ranking system scoring encourages bad behaviour. You get points for taking over the map, destroying many units, capturing many provinces, losing few provinces, and having a high kill ratio.
This encourages people to join a game, see if they can get a strong position early in the game, and if the can't, drop out and start a new one. And in fact it is possible to be in an unlimited number of games simutaneously, scouting for the one that will put you in the strongest position.
I would add these stats to the profile...
1. Number of games currently joined.
2. Longevity: Average/mean number of days played per game ever played.
Alternate scoring system
Coalition leaders would have a menu where they can allocate 'usefulness points' between each member. This will appear in you stats for everyone to see.
Or each player accumulates each day depending on the tonnage of his economy or another method an amount of 'popularity points' they can give to others. These would appear in your stats. You could make deals with other players where you would give them popularity points if they do something for you. You stats would show average popularity points earned per day.
This way, doing something useful for a coalition that doesn't involve taking many territories or killing many units will score points.
Example #1. A coalition member on the coast makes ships for the alliance can receive popularity points as payment.
#2. A member on the border of another coalition builds forts and defense troops on the border instead of expanding can receive popularity points as payment.
#3. Someone joins a game and immediately abandons it. No one gives them any popularity points.
Being in many games with low commitment will drag down your popularity points per day average because each game adds one day every day to your average.
