Anti-Access/Area Denial

Area denial in war refers to the use of defensive devices to prevent an adversary from occupying or traversing an area of land, sea, or air. The specific method may not be totally effective in preventing passage, but is sufficient to severely restrict, slow down, or endanger the opponent. It has been employed by militaries for centuries, with its traits imprinted on conflicts ranging from Ancient Greece to the modern day.

we have a few options to do this ingame such as aircraft carriers, submarines, artillery, missiles, and interceptors... But what about passive area denial such as buildable minefields and nuclear fallout from nukes

have it to where the units take the same damage as a artillery shot every few minutes when there inside the radius of the minefield or within the crater on the map as if the units were stepping on mines or suffering from radiation poisoning this would make it to where players would think twice before they advance blindly into the enemy lands and add entire strategies to the game
