Attacked While Sleeping

Call of War can be very fun at times, but it is extremely frustrating at others. I have countlessly fallen victim to spending hours on a game to be attacked in the middle of the night whilst I'm sleeping only to wake up to large portion of my army obliterated. The biggest flaw of this game is that every player is human. Everyone must sleep unless you're an unhealthy nerd. There needs to be some kind of change to this. :(

Agreed lol, many times in World at War speed I built up a lot of stuff but some dude across the water betrays me and eats my land for almost nothing

It's hard at the start, because there is no buffer. But after you expand your borders, you get more time to react. That's a good reason to expand wisely. Don't leave potential enemies near your core.

Another coping mechanism is not to leave your units exposed. Pull them back from the border. Cover with AA.

Minimize the length of your active front lines, in general. Decrease your risk exposure. If you grow in a controlled manner, you can control the pace of the game.

Lastly, be the bully. Make sure everyone is afraid of you from day 1 so they try to stay on your good side.

This is why rapid early expansion can be so useful. You pillage resources to boost your economy. You establish early dominance. And you build up defensive buffers by pushing out the border away from your core.

Turtle early on, and the opposite holds. You look like a tasty snack within easy reach. Sweet dreams!

I disagree. In WaWs, more often than not the country in 1st place by day 2-3 will get attacked by several other players and won’t last much longer, unless they’re super good or a golder. I think it’s a good idea to expand fast, but not too quick, so you stay out of first but still able to get the resources you need to build effective units.

I think in normal modes with normal speed and times 4 speed it’s fine as long as u join the game in morning in ur timezone u have a high chance of surviving, but in swift strike or any modes with speed factor over 5 it’s a big issue

That's usually because the player in first place over extended themselves. Many newer players make the mistake of prioritizing conquest at the expense of their troops. They expand taking heavy casualties and are open to counterattack. The trick is to find that middle ground where you are expanding in the early game while keeping casualties to a manageable level.

There is simply nothing which can be done to 'fix' it, After all, its a part of this game.

Well, you can pick some island country or a place in Australia like I did in WAW. I cleared out Australia and New Zealand by Day 3, and there's no threat whatsoever to my core, because I have a navy.

Could make 4 times speed game that would last only 6 hours a day. Still could look around and maybe change build queue but everything would be frozen until next day where battles and movement resume. Would need several different time windows to choose from for the international crowd.

People could have two or three games going with different time windows if they want to play more then 6 hrs a day

Thats why I only play historic xD I lack patience for some grind in CON or smth

Easy solution, attack your enemies while THEY are sleeping

The President

Before you log off to sleep, review your fronts, troops and defenses. Ask yourself, where would you attack yourself if you were your enemy. Make sure to send fighters and Bombers on CAP missions. Set up some defensive "traps". Set units to move in defensive box patrols.

Just make offensive units and attack, attack, attack. Put them on attack overnight and fix the gaps during day. The war as Bytro intended.

edit: Big stacks!

The Americans were asleep when Pearl Harbour was attacked

They were asleep again when the Germans launched the battle of the Bulge.

You expect this game to be fair?

;(

You have this the other way around. The Pearl Harbor attack commenced just before 8am local time. Which would have been in the middle of the night Tokyo time as there is a five hour difference.

Bruh, most americans at Pearl Harbor were celebrating or smth the last night, so they woke up utterly dazed.

And also the US were attacked, not the Empire of Japan

My point was the attack occurred in the middle of the night in Tokyo and the middle of the day in Washington, DC. Because of the international dateline, the attack even happened on different days depending on who you ask. December 7 in America, December 8 in Japan. Dispute those facts all you want to.

On this we can agree.

It was mainly the timing of the attack. Japan needed a surprise attack to have maximum impact, it wasn't something they could do without daylight as they needed visibility for targeting ships. They timed the attack for dawn on a Sunday, no doubt plenty of the sailors were out drinking the night before, at church on a Sunday morning, or otherwise enjoying a day off. I'm not aware of any major occasions to celebrate, but I don't claim to be an expert either.

I don't think he means literal "sleeping", on a macro level it would mean something like "being prepared".
