Boats... Meh. The sea uses the same grid as the grid on land, only more free-form ish. Boats won't need to patrol, for that reason alone. Airplanes, once airborne, are not confined to the grid of the map, and instead can fly wherever they want, hence the use of the patrol so you can attack a general area of the map.boylondon wrote:
I think boats should be able to patrol too.Battle time should be reduce relative to the number of units. For example, if I have 1 tank at level 1 and 3 level 1 infantry units and I'm attacking a province with 1 level 1 infantry unit, that fight should not take long.
Travel and production time should be reduce as well.
Battles have an X factor. Besides that, damage is calculated once per hour, and unless you soften up the target beforehand, it is going to take several hours for a battle to conclude. That is the same for all units, regardless of their strength or type. And it provides some balance so you can't just steamroll a map in a couple of days.
And I don't agree with proposal to reduce production and travel time either... This is an RTS. You either have actions happen in seconds, or hours(and henceforth games lasting either to around 15 minutes, or having games which stretch across weeks). There is no in-between in those different states, and those that do have that in-between require you invest a huge amount of time into the task, and essentially throw your life away. This, you can leave for several days without any major repercussions(unless you do it repeatedly).
