Great idea. there should definitely be some sort of scorched earth tactics in the game. Bridges would be really handy. It would be awesome if we could destroy our own buildings to slow the enemy's advance.
Bridges, self sabotage and more ideas!
After playing the game for a while i have thought off some cool new mechanics that could make the game better. Now before i start i will get out of the way with add rare and goods back. Also the new hp bar is not good. It is difficult to see how much you lost since it's all green.
Bridges! With the new river update which is quite nice i see a possibility of adding bridges. While rivers could create chokepoints and defence it could take a while going all the way around. But with bridges you could build one so your units can cross the river right there and then. This also means your enemy could build a bridge to bypass your river defence making you having to try and stop them.
With the bridges your enemy could use them against you by crossing them as well. Or when they take a city of fully leveled up buildings giving them a huge reward. With self sabotage buildings you could spend money and resources to blow up your infrastructure in that province to prevent your enemies from getting the reward. But it will cost you resources doing so, soo be careful.
When you take over a province you might find that they give you little resources like the rural once. Well with repression you could repress them and force them to produce more, but at the cost of morale so doing it for too long will cause them to revolt. When they revolt there will be some units there like infantry and militias. Urban revolt will be tougher to deal with with additional units. So do it sparingly.
Mud! When bombarding an enemy position for a long period of time you might wonder? Wouldn't the terrain be more muddy? Well yes! With mud it would punish long bombardment as the province getting bombarded would be muddy slowing your army crossing it.
Does anyone agree? Would anyone like to suggest some other ideas?

It wouldn't make sense to build a bridge between you and a neutral/enemy country. Apart from that, all these ideas are cool and goodtonestones wrote:

I see that there could be value in building a bridge between you and an enemy country. If you are planning an invasion and there is a river between your borders. then you could build a bridge, of course be cautious as the enemy if noticing the bridge would be alerted to a potential invasion. The bridge could act as not only a faster route, but also a strategy to be able to overwhelm your enemy as one chokepoint could be easily manned with a good defence, but multiple might overwhelm the defender. Thus making bridges important in not only unit speed, but also could mean winning the battle.
