Buff For Commandos

One of the things I am most unhappy with in this game is Commandos. They are being treated as a unit that fought regular battles, and that is not what they were for at all. I have been trying to think of something which would give the Commandos a slight advantage over regular units, but I couldn't come up with anything. That is, until @f118 had the fantastic idea of making the Commandos 'land submarines'. They would not be seen unless if in combat. I want to know what other members of the community think of this idea.

for the 1st option : commandos will capture ennemy's defences because they are better trained so your normal troops in a city in a fort will loose it so your commandos will have a defence bonus or something, also they are better equiped and trained so they will be better in urban combat

have marines ? it will be great to capture ennemy's ships because now in a naval combat it's alwas how have the biggest navy, no way to sink ennemy's ships easilly and it takes very long and a lot of ressources

maybe marines and other specialised troops will be a sort of upgrade in the tech tree

Yeah, drive a tank into urban combat, the values should be halved. It would be fair if commandos got buffed in cities. You can only build them in the capital, mountains are very limited on the map, cities arent. Buff in mountains represents specialized training, weapons, mobility. Same environment for cities. As it is now, it's a useless unit and hardly anyone makes them unless you want to make few to kemp your local mountain range. Late game, due to the lack of higher research tiers, their bonuses are worthless so there's no point in making them as reg inf has higher stats for attack and d.

And come to think of it, people want para troops, maybe commandos could represent spec ops units all together. Give them ability to jump a radius from an airfield and have commando unit stats

Tanks should be considered, we commonly run into them in this game. Their stats are halved in cities.

Mountains and cities are very different. You can't sit in the mouth of a dark cave with your handy MG34 and wait for some Tommy's to stroll past and mow them down. Best thin you can do is camp in a window but the barrel will stick out and you do not have as good a FoV.

Lots of people use it and it is very useful. You can get in on day 8 which is NOT late game.

Their bonuses are very good and they kick infs ass. Mountains are all over the map and very common.

We have discussed the hell out of para, the devs are doing their own thing.

everything i said was right concerning commandos/. Ur wrong. why tf u talking bout tanks. again, tanks in city combat suck a long one. Obviously u never played wot or wt. your scenario with caves and windows, i give up, youre full of hot air sitting on your fat ass pretending to be a sherriff of woc which supposed to be a grand strat war game and youre talking bout caves and windows and a game that isn't even complete. good luck

spec ops should get a buff in cities and include all aspects of special operations, including para, marines and commandos. If devs are planing on including marines in the future, great. Commandos, i never make them so whats the point. Units in game should have a balance and perks that want people to build them. Plenty of people dont bother with commandos

Tanks have half stat on cities, those tight streets negate the tanks mobility and limit the main gun with buildings on both sides, tanks in cities are easy prey for infantry.

As for commandos we will have marines and paras in the future so that's done, they also have full movement on mountains, for an actual buff commandos should have buff on forest and hills as well, cities are almost universal for infantry (even if commandos are "secret")

To clear things up, commandos are elite light infantry specializing in recon, by air, sea or land, able to hit important targets such as supply or flank the enemy, spec ops in the other hand are different by the word special operation their "special" meaning unconventional, they too are similar to commandos but have a different role such as deep infiltration and assasination think like Metal Gear Snake, while for commandos think like Rambo.

I can report you for that highly insulting behaviour. I have played both WoT and WT and I know for a fact that they irrelevant since neither of them have infantry.

Plenty of people don't build other units too, doesn't mean they're crap.

Yeah, but you can produce infantry if you have barracks and ind. complex, (which is pretty easy to get), but you need level 2 barracks, ind. complex and capitol for building commandos. If it's going to be so unbalanced in terms of production, give Commandos a buff.

High casualty rate, yeah, but the operation was a complete success. Tirpitz never sailed agian, 'cos the German were too scared the British would sink it. The Tirpitz stayed the whole war in Norway, and never left its base. Sunk by Brit bombers in November 1944.

The Germans also didn't use that dry dock anymore, which ended in their loss at the Battle of the Bay of Biscay. They also spent a lot of money and raw materials unnecessarily fortifying that coast.

It also was of great propagandistic value, as it showed the Biritsh still had the will to fight.

And finally, it scared the s*it out of Hitler.

Commandos are "Elite Infantry" units right now. They are capable of being A.A, Extremely strong infantry, going toe to toe with Tanks, etc. Buffing them further is not something I am in favor of.

How about this?

lets build commandos more faster, say a level 2 or 3 barracks?

I like a buff for commandos but I don't mind if it didn't happen, there strong, highly flexible, and like I said before kind of like Rambo so yeah. But I do feel slightly weird by saying their "secret" instead of a stronger version if the infantry.

you're ridiculous. we were talking bout commandos, you brought up tanks in cities. I replied that taking a tank into urban combat is a death wish and yes, their values should be penalized for city combat and you come back with wot and wt irrelevant since no inf?? I regularly get my sht pushed in taking my pz4 into town and some t34 pop up around the corner putting rounds in my rear and that's tank on tank. If you're inf, and are moving towards a tank you can stay undetected and throw everything at the tank and crush it. You want another example, heroes n generals, u get inf vs tanks and I crush tanks running up to them with anti tank weapons. WE WERE talking bout commandos, you brought up tanks. wtf is going on w you pal. what subject are you on? talking bout caves n windows and tanks. can you see texas from your high horse

Alright, for the last time. tanks in a city vs inf should get crushed due to flanking, anti tank weapons, limited mobility, turret traverse etc, getting flanked by panzerfaust/bazooka infantry is no brainer. Since wer're talking bout commandos, i'd like to see same stats in cities as well as mountans, you mentioned there's plenty of mountains around.. ok, you got the alps, the pyrenees and few in yogoslavia.. And norway which i never go for since there's no resource values and not bother spending time going up north. you brought up that there's plenty of mountains, that's all you got plus one or two around. Not enough to make people build commandos. Which you can only make in the capital and they don't have enough incentive to produce. Peole don't build them, so what's the point of the unit

Your capital is getting built up all thru the game so once you get your level 3 infra and barracks, people make other units that can be more relevant to the war, not making commandos. If they got tech tree progression increasing their stats, i'd reconsider as well as being more useful in cities. As they are now, i never make them. In the end, I'd like a more complete game with choices, not few units spam, med tanks, mech inf and tac bombers and bb/dd combos.

I kindly request you edit your posts and remove the insults and carry on in a more cooperative environment. This discussion would be a great one, but all the crap flying around is ruining it.
