The aircraft carrier is under powered in this game. In real life, carriers are literally the most essential part of a navy. Instead of making planes for the carrier, the carrier should initially start with 3 planes of each category at what ever level you researched it at. Second, following the previous statement, if they are buffed, make them a little more expensive. Right now carriers are like garbage.

Carriers are actually pretty useful, but no-one uses them because they're so expensive to research, and to build. Combine 2-3 Carriers with a few battleships and destroyers and you'll have a very strong fleet. Got a naval bomber problem? Carriers can house interceptors. Got a sub problem? Carriers can house naval bombers too. Got an artillery problem? Carriers can also house lvl 4 tactical bombers. But like I said, they're expensive, and so are the planes that make them useful.

Carriers are fine. They are crucial for your planes to reach areas they normally cannot reach

Please use better words to describe a unit, all these unit are created with a reason. Maybe you do not get how it can possibly be useful. One day you might change your mind because you will know that every unit here is crucial in CoW

Well, if you want to increase carrier plane capacity AND at the same time increase their costs, then that's not really a buff, is it?
Anyhow, I agree with you that in case you play alone, it almost never makes sense to take the investment to research and build carriers (with the exception of seldom constellations on the 100player map when having a South American country and needing to invade a well defended Africa). Which, as you correctly stated, is not realistic and which is the reason why I once wrote a similar thread as you did now (--> this one <--).
However, usually you don't play alone and the extreme reduction of trade outside coalitions by the "Market Overhaul" update made it even less likely you ever play alone. If you don't play alone, one of your team/coalition/alliance almost definitely should go for carriers... unless you play on a European map, of course. So I now tend to rather leave them as they are.
