Building Naval Base in 15 minutes? Completely unrealistic

Why Naval Base is so fast to build? It's unrealistic, compared to other buildings.

To make it realistic, this time should be longer, at least 12 hours, or a day.

I agree with this. You either make building time for an air base shorter, or you increase the building time of the naval base.

The past is a foreign country.

I prefer it like this I like being able to build ports fast and already have a navy

I prefer it like this too, and I also quite like Pablo's idea of shortening the air base build time. Hell, all you need to do to make an airbase is, technically, pitch a few tents and flatten some grass.

Better Idea, make another 15 minute building, the landing strip, used like an airfield but cannot be used to build aircraft.

I think I actually suggested this a year ago or something haha.

I disagree with you suggestion of a landing strip. In a perfect world, it might be a good idea, but Bytro staff don't work around the clock, so I don't think it'd be a good idea to waste their time on this. Hell, I did half the work for them in my British Faction Tree and they haven't implemented it yet - and that was two years ago. Nevertheless, maybe the easiest solution for this would be to do the following: keep current airfield building time, but after the first 15 minutes of building, make it so that planes can land - but only interceptors, tactical bombers and maybe naval bombers.

That sounds even more awkward for them.

I know jack about programming, but it might be easier.

I doubt it and I know very little.

Airbases are usable at 9 hours, for a very high refuel time of 30 minutes. The problem with making air bases faster to build, is enemies can much more easily extend their range into your territory. Naval bases do not extend the range of ships, so the same argument cannot be made on them.

Free Time looks good on me

Planes should be able to land on field terrain provinces. Having actual been in a small plane landing on a field, I would say it it realistic, however, refuelling would be a concern.

Not only would refueling be a concern, but you are also talking about interceptors and bombers. These aren't exactly Ultra-lights. Russians did use roads and fields to launch and land, but most martial aircraft needs an air base.

Actually in WWII for a lot of British airfields during the Battle of Britain, grass landing strips were used. Very good as you only need a bulldozer/shovels to repair it. Just fill in the holes.

Actually to be more realistic airfields should have timer deppending on the area that they're beeing build in.

In plain terrain it should be the lowest cooldown, while on mountains the heighest.

I also like an idea of the landing strip

Naval bases are linked to the resources production but at a very very very low %

therefore increasing the construction time really has no negative impact on

resources albeit early, and during game.

In keeping with some sort of realistic game time frame for the build and the game

it should prob be an 18 or 24 hour build process.

Im quite supprised this has never been changed as there are many

that would sink gold into having the naval advantage early game.

I know why its a 15 minute build time

The level one is just basically a fishing dock.. :00008359:

Level 2 is an actual naval port

And level three is just a major naval port.

Problem solved.

Realism in check.

Cool, I can build a submarine in a fishing dock? Totally moving to BC

Yep. Its like ironclads as destroyers and the first submarine as the submarine, with the (hypothetical) patrol boat as a row boat :00008359:

This raises two points:

1) It can be done so as to make a naval base usable halfway.

2) Naval bases don't actually give you the benefit of extending your range into the enemy's heartland. @WiseOdin convinced me: it should stay as it is.
