Cargo ships, trucks and planes.

I've been playing for a little bit now and I do have some suggestions that I think would be fun and make things a little more challenging.

I would like to suggest removing the instant trade option from the market and make it to where we would have to use cargo ships, cargo planes or cargo trucks for trades between different countries. Using these vehicles rather than allowing instant trades would allow enemies the chance to set up blockades and try to cut off enemy supply lines.

What each cargo vehicle should be able to transport.

Cargo ships - resources, infantry, tanks, artillery, rockets, interceptors, PT boats ( if added ), and railroadguns.

Cargo trucks - resources and infantry.

Cargo planes - resources, infantry, tanks, and rockets.

With that suggestion in place, if you wanted instant trading you could still buy resources for gold from the market which couldn't be destroyed or be seized by an enemy player. It's better than just placing an embargo on someone because if they can't defend their trade routes, no one will be able to trade with them.

I know this suggestion may cause some problems because people don't have right of way with every country but perhaps these units could be made passive unless they're passing through enemy territory or encounter enemy units. I know trading like this is much slower than it is now so I'm open to suggestions on what speeds should be, I know cargo ships used by the Americans were very slow, the fastest I found so far was 16 knots but I believe like infantry that can be sped up.

Thanks for reading. I'm open to constructive criticism.

It would eliminate a lot of trades because with most their is a time element. If you have to wait, you can often produce it yourself. Also it wouldn't be worth the risk of losing the cargo to most players.

It would also be a huge programming change since it is significantly different from the current game.

You do make valid points, Lawrence.

The time the trades would take is one of the problems with it, I can't deny that. If these units traveled too quickly though it might be hard to intercept them unless you already had some kind of blockades set up to stop the trade, slow it down or make them reroute their trade. If they did implement this, your fastest trades would either be buying resources with gold or by using cargo planes with neighboring countries, a bonus to it is that different unit types could also be moved by the cargo units.

You could reduce the risk of losing precious cargo by not trading with other countries on the other side of the map, by improving your relations with the countries you're trading with and with countries along your trade routes, and also by using convoys to help protect your cargo, maybe your coalition could help protect them or help clear the way for you.

I often hear that there's a lack of communication between players, this is one way to help with that.

I also hear some players mentioning that they'd like to add more realism to the game while others ask for balance and some ask for new units and others complain about how slow their units move, this should help with at least some of that while still allowing Bytro to try and make some revenue by selling resources quickly and safely to more impatient players.

Yes, it will require some changes in the coding but all changes require that. They may even have to make some additional economic changes so that some countries produce too much of certain resources that they can't use and just keep piling up while creating a shortage of others that people will need to trade for or just buy.

Thank you for taking the time to express your opinions on this idea, Lawrence. :)

There are enough shortages of various goods already at various stages of the game. Often players are short on food and/or oil on some maps. This would only make that worse.
