It doesn't win the battle, the tank loses half its strength.
Mess with the Bill, you get the scorn!
so i reached lvl 4 inf.. looking at attack values.. at day 20.. .8 for attacking cities? meanwhile, med tank lvl2 at day 16 gets 1.1 attack for cities? 1.2 for lvl 3//
then heavy tank lvl 1 gets 1.5?
devs or anyone plays world of tanks, war thunder? taken a tank into a city?? or watch any war movie ever?
tanks in urban combat? vs inf? turret traverse, reload time, vs inf troops carrying pzfausts, surrounding a tank?
im just brain storming here.. but dont feel taking a tank into a city vs inf defending it should win the battle..
meanwhile, im building heavy tanks for city assaults
It doesn't win the battle, the tank loses half its strength.
Someone please explain to me what this guy just wrote?
Are you saying you want tanks to be stronger in cities, or infantry to be weaker in cities?
I'm so confused
I think he thinks that tanks have full strength in cities(which they don't). I am not sure though.
I'm very confused at this point.
I dunno. The original post makes very little sense. It sounds like he thinks tanks should be stronger in cities while infantry should be stronger in cities because making the tank stronger would make no sense.
I wonder if he is trying to confuse people.
He is confusing the damage classes.
The .8 strength against cities is, quite literally, against the city (ie. infrastructure) not the units defending it.
Now obviously the cannon on a tank IS going to be better at demolishing buildings than Peter and his pet rifle.
In actual urban combat you should take the value against the armour class you face (ie. inf) and apply the terrain modifier (ie. 0.5 for armour in cities).
As for referring to World of Tanks & War Thunder as reference guides.....please don't, neither has much to do with reality.
WT is actually quite realistic and will be even more realistic quite soon. They are going to add a mechanic that lets you destroy buildings rather than just trees, lampposts and fences. The buildings collapse along certain lines(depending on where shoot) in accordance with real physics. The only problem I know with it is when you turn too sharply in the 35(t) you can go up on one track/flip over.Jaws wrote:

As for WoT, that game sucks and is unrealistic.
They both suck lol.
And realism would have some evil gent with a bazooka waiting for you
Hmm, I see your point. Would you play a game where a bazooka or AT gun is in a building you can't destroy though? Anyway, I have a feeling infantry will be put in at some point. They have trenchwork with wooden supports and such in some maps(and they are NOT anti-tank ditches).
